Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Why are you still there?

I don't get it. This site is full of folk winging and whining about how DXC is such a terrible place to work. No respect, no bonuses or wage rises and yet you cling on to the sh!thole of a company for dear life.

I think the only people left in this cesspit of a company are the bone idle and the complete m@rons. You only have yourself to blame for still being there. Take some control of your life and make a change. The monotonous drivel that employees post on this site is pathetic. Grow up!!

Left a year and a half ago and got an effective 65% raise immediately plus another 8% a year later. Staying at DXC and tolerating the bs is a poor option. The job market is favorable at the moment and anyone having a clue will find better opportunities elsewhere.

This is the problem with DXC - crotchety people like @X3LwjgX-ysdt and @X3LwjgX-duis who have been doing the same boring predictable work for 20+ years and they are not growing their skillsets. Meanwhile Mikey has noticed that these people are expensive personnel to keep on the books and the company can benefit tax-wise by making them redundant and hiring cheap yet clueless graduates who can be trained on Bionix and Spartans to provide fresh ideas and hopefully not sink SLAs and KPIs.

However there is a huge life to live outside of DXC, full of joy and away from the burning issues which Mikey and others are turning a blind eye to. When being WFR'd don't look back and try to make lame excuses to stay on at DXC.

@X3LwjgX-ysdt Mikey joined CSC in Feb 2012... that's 7 years ago now.

We imagined that there would be turmoil for a little while but that the turmoil would end and everything would get back to "normal" eventually.

Seven years later, the turmoil is still boiling. The reorganisation still isn't complete. The prospects are still bleak and the idea of normality is just a dream.

The trouble is that Mikey needs to keep the chaos to hide his bungling from the shareholders. Its never an even keel and very deliberately.

The only hope for any remaining staff is to outlive Mikey's tenure and pray that next time we get leadership with some common sense.

As a DXC manager I can say that half of this right. Yaaaa, we have big issues to resolve but the people still here are here for a reason. I personally like my job and the people I work with. The company is a little messed up right now but I want to be optimistic that it will straighten out in time.. maybe that time is when ML is gone but with my 20+ years of service why would I go anywhere? If it is my time, I will wait for my package. Otherwise, I will continue to get paid and always do the best that I can for my people.

You may not realize that people have bills to pay and are afraid if they just leave without another position lined up they won't be able to provide for themselves and their families. In some areas certain companies are like the all-powerful contracting mafia and most every job listing you see posted is actually under them, and if you get put on their p--p list, you're screwed.

My team and I work onsite at a customer account. Most of us have been here 20 years or more. I enjoy working with my team members and customer. It's close to home with flexible hours. I'm looking to retire in the next couple of years and I really don't want to look for another job. As a mainframe systems programmer, I've kept up with my skills and doubt I would have a problem finding another job.

What a great initial post as it provoked several emotions / reactions at once. We've seen a few reasons; near retirement, enjoyment from customer satisfaction (from someone impacted through acquisition), fear of inability to find another job, and the semi-perverse awe from watching this train wreck unfold in slow motion.

I've seen other reasons too; good team / colleagues, still getting net positive value as an employee (for recent hires), hope for leadership change, head in the sand, etc.,

Me, with the exception of nearing retirement, I probably had all of those other reasons (including head in the sand), but in 2017 I had my fill and left of my own volition. It wasn't easy, and I failed initially ... twice. But here in 2019, I'm doing well and have been for closing on a year.

For those approaching retirement - best wishes, I hope you make the last leg of your journey. For those new to the company and still positive / enjoying it - good luck, it won't last unless significant changes are made above which likely won't happen anytime soon. For the others that feel trapped, my sympathies - I'd still recommend be ready to depart as RIFs/WFRs are still happening regularly. Friends and colleagues of mine had this happen to them, with all the signs there, but were still not prepared. It was more painful, for a longer period of time than it needed to be. When looking you'll find many tools / options to consider that may make finding the next stop easier or better prepare you to make the switch - good luck!

Can't answer for anyone else, but I'm an oldie within a year of retirement and if I don't HAVE to go look for another job, I don't WANT to. But I got WFRed, I would probably be able to find a contracting job. My skills are current so that is not an issue. I make a point to learn new things on my own every year.

Mikey WFR'd me so that I could not server my customers any more and they complained bitterly, but their voices fell on deaf ears. Meanwhile 3 useless Graduates took on my work and my customers complained even more to the same deaf ears. DXC is on the nose now big time.

Mikey only cares about his WFR bonus and no use complaining to HR cos they are in it too.

This might sound weird to you but I have stayed at DXC to serve my customers. We have a loyal group of several hundreds happy customers that depend on us for their daily work in the healthcare.

Misfortune started after DXC bought our company. Admittedly, DXC makes it really hard for us to continue our valued work, but despite every attempt of our beloved leader ML to fail, we are still there and these same group of customers is still happy with the work we deliver.

DXC can pay us less, treat us wrong, but they will never be able to make us abandon our own set of ethical values. We will deliver high quality software every day again.

We take proud in our work and we know that if we can make it here, we can make if everywhere.

One day ML will leave, but we will still be there. The only thing we pray for every day again is that ML runs under a bus or that our devision is sold again...

Who is to say that some of us are still at Club Toxic (aka DXC)? It's amusing to see the clusterfook that the company has become.

No bonus is coming you have crossed years and performance appraisal time. No reserve has been funded and you get anything it will be done by winging it. Leave or threaten to leave then you will get your bonus. You are being dragged along as a slave. Get a clue.

What about the people who can't just quit and get another job? What about those people who are in the 'older' group who would find it harder to get another job? Maybe there are people in a job where there isn't any new jobs going in their area? There are lots of factors. One word to you, a.ss
