Chorley Office?

As a long time member of staff at the Chorley office, I am wondering what the future is going to be here. Looking around it seems it is only at 50-60% capacity. The canteen has been shut down in favour of a sandwich van that turns up for 10 mins each day and it’s in serious need of refurbishment. As DXC are attempting to showcase that we are the best in ‘digital’ surely there must be plans for this office. I find it quite embarrassing that vendors/clients visit this place when it looks like it’s stuck in the 90’s with old fashioned desks, dirty carpets and mismatched chairs. Just looks so unprofessional! Sort it out!

Wouldn't put it past Mikski to WFR all the UK employes cutting out personnel (employees) and their overheads like Tupe / Employment contracts, pensions, medical, etc, etc, etc., etc and outsource the secure account to one or more agencies for personnel (onshore, nearshore) to be hired to do a piece of work, project, even do a support for say 6 months.

Thats funny about Malaysia.

Two things:

1) The UK is probably the most offshored area of DXC in the Western world. Unlike AMS and rest of EMEA, the UK pushed everything to India a long old time ago. All that remains are UK Secure accounts pretty much. These cannot be offshored.

2) In Mikey's recent investor day, the UK was highlighted along with AMS as being the least "digital" of DXC, however, there is a significant amount of legacy ITO - so much that Mikey said that the UK had its first ever billion dollar revenue quarter in Q2 FY19 (ie the other week). Its not failing, far from it. Its also 18% of the revenue of the company. However, who in the UK had heard this revelation? You'd have thought they'd have told the UK workforce the good news? Oh hang on no, lets not because then those wretched employees will be wanting their share of the profits.

At today's call in Malaysia, it was mentioned that the UK is not competitive enough and the management was looking. to move work to Malaysia.

The reason cited was salaries were too darn high as compared to the revenue received making it almost unviable.

The job needs to be done by paying pennies not pounds.

“DXC are attempting to showcase that we are the best in ‘digital’”

With jokes like this you should be on the telly.

DXC are only best in bulshitting and customers, employees and shareholders have noticed.

Part of the chesterfield site is falling down, the roof caved in recently.

If you think Chorley is bad, Chesterfield is a dump.

@W6g2lQv-3xlk it's more likely the former CSC Chesterfield office in will be consolidated with the recently acquired eBECS office also in Chesterfield.

There isn't a cat in hells chance staff from Chorley will relocate to Chesterfield

As Chorley office looking like it is falling to bits would be sensible for DXC to consolidate majority of their employees in a permanent Chesterfield office and to hire a regis office nearby Chorley as a stop gap until above is accomplished.

DXC are in their right in consolidating offices to save overheads and don't need to give any concern / relocation package/s to their staff affected - they will do what they like to save money.

Employees can either relocate or seek exit terms with the DXC company

Chorley used to support many HUGE accounts.

Not any more - Only one main account left (already mentioned before) and its on life support. The majority of subacounts have gone to competitors and the only left for DXC is small "Old Tech" tactical work

I agree with @W6g2lQv-2ybz. That client is the contract they have with BAe Systems, and they were pi$$ed off enough with bad service when I was at the Chorley site, so if they pull the plug?

They are definitely looking to move sites as repeatedly stated in some all hands, but not further than 10 miles I guess, otherwise they would have to pay out a shed load of travel allowance.

Interesting a DXC senior director attended a local business event about 6 months ago which talked about the new digital hub under construction up the road, it was posted on the internal Facebook.

If they lose the biggest client served from that site then it could be curtains for Chorley

I, for one, think it is bloody great that the id--ts at the top who pretend to know everything, know bugger all! It's finally showing that management will destroy this mess in the not too distant future. It's like watching a remake of WW II, where the management, who thought they would get it right, collapsed into failure....just like DXC will. Merry Christmas to all the poor sods that have to put up with this travesty!

@W6g2lQv-1heo there are two labour pyramids.... one is the management hierarchy... the other one (the one on this slide) is about salary distribution.

The thing they are targeting is reducing the salaries for the 40%... which means fire and rehire.

More mangers than workers, but you still can’t find one to make a decision or manage anything, we do that ourselves. Plenty to block expense claims though!

Wow slide 44 says that the future labor pyramid will have 40% of employees in the bottom 3 layers. However there will still be 8 layers between the bottom and the top. In other words no change from 2017.

Mikey - your spies should realise that their time is up and the challenge is to clip the top 60% to less than 3 layers in the labor pyramid. Your cronies are s---ing the lifeblood from the company and lining their own pockets whilst hardworking and decent employees (aka the bottom 40%) are being used as slaves.

European office site reduction is significant, that will affect lots of people.

Chorley is one of the nominated UK Regional Delivery Centres

The slides say that they are going from 16 Delivery Centres to 14 Delivery Centres in Europe. Highly unlikely that Chorley will be one of the 2 that get closed

One assumes Chesterfield would be higher than Chorley. More HUB managers there than staff.

I don't know how the Warrington office is still hanging in there, it's like a ghost town, talk about empty wasted space.

The two Cobalt buildings had a similar utilisation last I heard, and that's supposed to be the flagship site

Take a look at slide 46-49 - Facilities Rationalization...

http://assets1.dxc.technology/investor_relations/downloads/20181108_Investor_day_vFinal_print.pdf

No specific office mentioned but you can get an idea of the proposes facilities related carnage to come. The Americas are looking at reducing office sites from 84 to 42, 1 delivery center and 9 datacenters.

I'm sure I heard some manager say that Chorley has a future, you're one of the few places that will have a town hall, and you have senior mgmt on site, so you're safer than many of the other sites.

I'd say that after the obvious safe offices (Erskine, Newcastle, Aldershot and Kings Cross) Chorley was at the top if not near the top of the remaining sites.

Of course I could be wrong, I've given up trying to guess what is next on the DXC roller coaster

Looks like things haven't changed then since I left that mess a while ago. I'll be surprised if there is a Chorley office in the near future, as the deplorable management decisions are ruining that once good place to work. My advice is to take VR (if offered) and find a better place to work...good luck!

Once DXC review it's remaining UK estates capital for 2018/19 and identify its key operating locations, I am sure they will be able to identify refurbishment funds and make a goodwill gesture to renew one of the tyres on your butty van.
