Is it possible that the volume of over 50 associates is high in the FCM role thus impacting that population at a greater rate simply because of the larger number of associates in that bracket? And seriously you have an option, take the new job they offer or find something else you like. Many businesses have to adjust staffing. This is not Humana being mean....
I would like to suggest that anyone over the age of 50, who is being forced into a position for which they were not hired and does not view this as their golden opportunity, file a complaint with the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). You don't have to wait until you are terminated. Better still, as there appears to be evidence that this practice is occurring within a specific age category, file a class action suit. The EEOC will investigate and attempt to mediate if possible. If you have been terminated under these circumstances, they will issue a 'right to sue' letter to you which you can then give to your attorney - so that a law suit may be filed. Unfortunately dreamers, Humana is a predatory insurance company - preying upon the medicare population with a high priced, inferior product that then gets off loaded to dim wits in Manila for handling

Sooo...here is how I feel...First of all , in my particular area, we had a high concentration of FCMs and we were low. It was evident that one or more needed to go. I was equally as sad that my teammates might have to go. Yes. I was one of the lucky ones picked for telephonic. No. I did not sign up for it. But at the end of the day, I am not leaving and my teammates are not leaving. So, for this I am grateful. That's it. Didnt pick it
Didnt sign up for it but I will do my 110 percent for myself (self-pride) and my members. And if I want to go somewhere else or do something else, I will. That's the best I can do. But, before I make a change, I'm at least going to give it a try. Maybe I'll like it. Who knows?
Below poster, you may be needed in your role. The hi page article talked about kindred doing Medicare part A work and Humana continuing to do in home work. Maybe it is what they say, snp has been trying to hire since they need help, and maybe it is what it is, a pool of workers with skills helping out another department

I wasnt chosen but was grateful to be avleto stay in my current position. but now im wondering...what do you think the plan is for all of those fcms who were not chosen for the telephonic role..layoffs coming? as everyone seems to think these chosen fcms were designated by humana to br saved
Regarding law suit: went with the out of court settlement for damages on the advice of attorney - as I did not want to spend another 2 years listening to the Humana song and dance. Also, i literally drove to the EEOC office myself and filed the paperwork to get the retirement party rolling - and yes, I am also pretty smart. Ever read the Rainmaker, by John Grisham - a tale about a predatory health insurance company? Best Grisham quote ever written found there - 'there's nothing more fun than nailing an insurance company' So true...............lol

Do you actually believe that you are holding the crystal ball that shows there is “no good reason” for the move? Do you actually believe that Humana would rather pay you an on going salary vs starting the RIF process which is less expensive? Maybe, just maybe, they need telephonic support right now! Why would think you’d be given a choice about lay-off or telephonic, if you’re being moved into a role? Your choice is to resign. Why would you be laid off if you’re needed? Maybe there is a good reason for the move, you may not like it, but programs change all the time, yours was impacted. Try the new role. You may end up liking it and be glad you had the opportunity
@3sfp. You are a modern miracle to have a lawsuit won against a major corporation within a year, sounds unlikely, but good for you, if it’s true.....
I agree. I was impacted Friday and my role is changing. I am GREATFUL for another position. If it does not suite me I will look for something else. 😉
@3eio: I would realize that my role is being changed from what I was hired to do and the company valued me enough to give me another role? I would be thankful. If the new role didn’t work out, I would look for another job. I’m still in hccp, and had many friends and coworkers impacted by the RIFs and they would’ve loved to have been placed in another role in Humana....not have to interview for internal positions, competing against each other, and to have the job security. I don’t see it the way you do, I don’t see it as the other poster who felt they were being forced out, even a RIF is not being forced out. It’s laid off.

Over the last eight rounds of layoffs everyone was complaining because Humana did not offer them another position . Now they are giving you one and you guys are complaining. So take what you are offered and if you don’t want it then leave. Stop complaining about everything Humana does. We are the only employees that come on this site and constantly complain. Humana layoffs many departments when the business model changes . You guys wanted a different outcome and now you have been given it. Be grateful you still have a job!
What was said 3 weeks ago? It s---s it’s not by choice, but at least they’re providing you a job. With the last RIF, those people didn’t get that opportunity . You may end up liking the job, if you don’t, it buys you some time to look for another one. Why is your job going away? Why are they doing the change?
I agree it’s c -ap this is a way to force you out without paying severance . Ride it out in no time the layoff will be here again! they even told us on a call 3 weeks ago it was going to happen !
originally, i was told that I would be transitioning to the new telephonic role on an 'as needed' basis. However, I could not gain clarity on how often 'as needed' would be. In Humana speak, asking questions translates into being 'negative'. A good and compliant employee questions nothing. Eventually. as I suspected, the telephonic role turned into full time work. In my own case, I am an older worker - this was a perfect opportunity for Humana to force me out of the company. I was unable to cope in the new role. If you are an older worker - coming up to retirement age - I would be wary of this opportunity. Mind you - previous to my Christmas surprise termination I had worked for Humana for over 10 years.
That's total c-ap! An opportunity is when it is offered to you not forced on you. How would you like it if they told you you were doing something completely different and you either could take it or get the hell out of the company!

wow...what was the reason they gave you for pushing you into telephonic? i am also one of the fcms pushed into telephonic and am shocked a company has the ability to do this. i never appliedfor telephonic because i have no interest in it but i need a job so feeling very trapped
I was one of those forced into a telephonic position for which i had completely no interest and very little training. I made numerous unsuccessful attempts to transfer out of the department and was ultimately forced out by my supervisor who requested that I sign a SOA (statement of agreement) voluntarily resigning my position within 60 days. I refused to sign and was terminated on trumped up charges. I fought back and sued. Imagine, this sad event occurred a few day prior to Christmas 2017. Happily, my settlement check for damages is in the mail and will be received shortly. My advice to all is to push back on these intimidation tactics. There is strength in numbers. Sue the SOB's!

They were told you either do this position or leave. That's c-appy. SNP here. Very very happy to hear we will be getting these transfers. Seems like they did something right. We welcome you all! We are in the middle of our own transition right now, too. So I was wondering what you think will happen after the 3 months? Is the plan to return to original team? I ask because the social workers have been informed we will no longer be in same role, we are being moved to support role (and we werent given a time line)

Some FCMs moved to telephonic nurses and some to SNP for three months. All others remain in FCM positions. No one was given a choice it was made for them. Moves made by caseloads, area, etc. Take the new positions or quit. This is to avoid layoffs. No RIFs.
No layoffs, moving individuals to open unposted positions. As it should be.

Well Suzie Q....come back after the meeting and tell us you were misinformed cause rif’s will be mentioned during the call. Now please note I did not say individuals will be notified they are being rif’d understand the difference.
Please stop trying to stir the pot..... it is NOT about a RIF and I know this for a fact.
The meeting is to discuss changes in FCM roles and to inform us that Rif’s will be taking place in the next couple of weeks due to the direction the program is going.
A RIF meeting wouldn’t be two hours. It’s probably about the transition with kindred at home and how we are going to work together.
