Either the company is stupid or they are very smart. Who in their right mind runs a business this way? Whenever they need to show profit they just layoff hundreds of people! So, people have become their greatest commodity? Focus on people, remember?

I know, years ago Seagate used to setup a twin cities wide day at Valley Fair or the Zoo. Now it's left to a building level recognition where you can show off your hobby car and play cornhole for two hours. The old timers recall when Control Data used to own their own campground on the St. Croix River and the disc drive division had their own whole weekend at the campground. I guess going all out for an employee day is long in the past.
I am bumbed out that there is no picnic this year.
@UYk5ucB-mtv..it is the same situation when stores like lidl here in Derry which would be the equivalent of walmart in America pay a better hourly rate than Seagate.Plenty of other supermarkets/stores in Derry pay better than Seagate.
Because people are waiting for the money when it sink.
They forgot how long they can stay afloat with the money.
It seems that many people complain about the Titanic sinking instead of jumping into a lifeboat. B--ching about the captain and senior officers because the ship hit an iceberg won't save anyone from drowning. Neither will saying "I can't find space in a lifeboat". They had better get cracking and put Plan B into place. Now if someone could tell us when the main deck will get flooded, that would be useful.
And still some benighted passengers would claim it is all bs from Cunard trolls.
@lcf, Springtown is in the UK, not in the state. Mate, although I figure what you said but you also needed to admit that it's completely different situation.
Walmart or home depot pay better hourly rate than Seagate Springtown..No joke.$15 per hour is £11.60.Seagate Springtown have just risen our pay to a meagerly £9.75 per hour.Hows that for poorly paid.
no one is indispensable in a company, remember it
invest in yourself, take up courses to skill up!
Also be humble, you wont know who the person u ill treat previously will be your next hiring boss
Seems like Seagate has been in an ongoing layoff environment for many years.
Companies have always hired and fired as needed to shift resources. In the U.S., this has been the norm since the demise of the workers union.
On a more positive note, thanks to Donald, unemployment is at an all time low, so if you don't mind making $15.00/hr, you can get all the work you want at Walmart or Home Depot.
