Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Everyday disappearances

6 months ago corporate asked us to post our resumes along with our job descriptions. A month or two after that we were asked to fill out our own review. After that they informed us we would be meeting with manager for a formal review even if it wasn't anywhere near the date of your annual review. Got suspicious that corporate was going be laying off. First week of reviews started and someone was let go. A couple days after that I was let go. Weekly you get an email of people who no longer work at DXC. Either they got laid off, fired or left the company. Not a word is allowed to be spoken about these "disappearances." It was sad to hear what a great company that Hewlett Packard "used to be." Every month we were getting fluffed up emails disguised as what "great" changes they are making for employees. After acquiring weeks of vacation, we all came in one day to find they had wiped out our vacation time and went on this great new benefit of having "flex vacation " Take all the vacation you need. Sounds great, huh? Well the catch was only with the "approval" of your manager. So all of the favored employees were given vacation time but when others asked you got ignored or a flat no! Grass is rarely greener on the other side but with low morale, taking more out of your paycheck, and being looked down on for taking a 20 minute lunch and not working through your lunch hour, I know I will find much better place of employment.

US: are people being told they are on the list so they find another job? To relieve the unemployment benefits?

IT is too important to a company to outsource. And now Amazon makes it easier for a company to do their own IT.

@TwfnlVK-lkp in answer to your question... CSC under Mikey is basically what DXC is..... axe, axe, axe, penny pinch, buzzword "new product" and "new direction" every 12 weeks, constant endless reorg, no even keel ever found, fail to deliver, buy back shares and asset strip.

Was it always like this? Of course not, CSC used to be a proud place of the best technical people out there delivering the sharpest solutions to some of the biggest names in industry and government. It was a fantastic place to work.

Then came first the Great Offshoring followed by the financial crash, not helped by the fact that American CSC bosses thought a UK government project would be like a US Federal one - big dollars and when you f*** it up you just bid for the next one.... but no, the UK's NHS was not like that. Utterly predictable by any British person too!

Final nail in the coffin was Amazon... but not just CSC's coffin, every IT services company. Who'd have thought it - some of the biggest corporations in the world laid low by a bloody bookshop!

After that came our very own Angel of Death and by now all of you know exactly what that means.

DXC is doing nothing new; it's just a continuation of what was happening at HPE (dunno what was going on at CSC) before. I've been there > 20 years, and remember the old days well.

I spent 6 months looking for a new job. Job market is good for my skills/where I'm at, but I wasn't going to rush to something I'd regret later. Finally found the job I wanted, though will take a paycut for better long term opportunities.

I waited for last weeks performance eval to see if I'd get the boot, and when I didn't I gave my notice instead.
