The reason I think most have lost the positive vibe is the lack of morale that no longer exists within this company. Look beyond the layoffs. There is such extreme nepotism and favoritism that you could lose count when trying to lay out how some people have been passed over for such opportunities.
People I know, myself included, have applied for multiple positions within this company. My friends and I have applied for so many positions. We are all qualified to work these positions. I have been with this company for many years, and when I ask why I did not get an interview, or the position in general, I get this stupid excuse that states that I had not been with the company long enough.
The people who do get hired are the friends of the directors and the supervisors. People get passed over, and the ones who get picked are basically promised positions. How is a person who has worked for the company multiple years, has gotten great evaluations, and has helped with multiple projects to compete with the person who was friends with the boss, or on the boss’ old team? You could easily state that maybe if you work harder then you could make it happen, but how hard must you work to make that happen.
I love what I do with Windstream. My team is like my second family, and my supervisor is amazing, but every time I see a position that I fancy and apply for I know it is a loss cause because I know that I will not get an interview, or get the job. I am stuck where I am at, and I do get angry. I know I may be too good for what I do, but I love what I do.
Just don’t get on there and state that people need to be optimistic because people have lost their faith. I am not saying that these people are demanding their dues, but these people deserve to be given opportunities for interviews and promotions. These people are hard workers and know this company back and forth, but they get a thanks for all you do, and that is about it. You have to understand that people who witness that firsthand can lose faith in their workplace and want it to fail. I think some people on this site are disgruntled because no matter what they do they can never catch a break with this company. The same people get promoted and recognized, and other more qualified people get left in the tracks.
Sorry for the rant, but I felt that I wanted to get it off my chest. I have never posted on this site before. Thanks for reading, and thanks for listening. We will get through this together.
