Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

DXC in Belgium (former ES) going on second general strike tomorrow.

It has been nearly 3 months since the illegal and nasty WFR's started here in Belgium. Since then management is playing dirty and childish games and excuses to sabotage discussions with workers council. It is quite a schizophrenic behavior... every time there is a communication from the unions explaining the fruitless attempts to engage in any form of dialogue, management sends out communications how great all employees and customers have received new initiatives and the future is bright... best of all, we are now being asked to act as "ambassadors" and help attract young talent for the 130 vacancies currently opened... what a big smelly BS this is... official job web page shows only 2 open vacancies....

Herewith the simple list of demands unions have put forward:

"Our prime objective of this strike is to secure the future of the employees at DXC.

Although there are many positive elements in the New DXC.be Story, a number of our questions remain unanswered by management:

• The roadmap, incl. training & reskilling plans, available budget & time, WBS codes.

• The impact on the ESB employees & employment (next 3 years).

• Actions to restore the confidence in DXC (for employees & dissatisfied customers).

• We are one DXC, but why are we still two separate legal entities operating from two separate locations? Will we be merged? If yes, when and how?

We also expect from management a "formal" stop of the dismissals for "false" performance reasons.

And for our colleagues who don't fit into the old or new story, we demand a solid safety net (outplacement & financial support)."

Anyway, just wanted to let you all DXC folks out there we are onto this now. We can do with all your support!

P.S> I realize many of you are based in locations where the concept of unions is non existent.. I am also aware Thursday is the normal WFR day in US... hopefully you guys are not getting the notices today at least.

Well I believe that this publicity is still getting to the shareholder. The stock had been going down since March and also have seen some comments under shareholders where it is mentioned the way DXC is treathing their employees and to invest less in DXC.

Honnestly, can you still believe in a company that has no etics towards their employees? They are doomed to fade away as they will not be able to attract young potentials. In a time where in IT staff is being spoiled again, as there are not enough resources... DXC is doing the otherwise.

and if you feed peanuts, you only get monkeys! I hope this ship will sink asap!

@mrp As I said, they just bend over and get shafted some more, and the race to the bottom continues so to speak! :)

" would argue that in the short term at least that if people stuck together and were more militant these unscrupulous corporate bemoths would have to listen."

NO they would take to people who need jobs and will take anything to feed their family. You can't get 160,000 people to strike

I'm sure the shareholders will see to it that Mikey is the one being replaced soon. I think Mikey is just a cost cutter lacking in any decent business skills.

Bye bye Mikey !!

I would argue that in the short term at least that if people stuck together and were more militant these unscrupulous corporate bemoths would have to listen. Their workers provide some of the most essential services that make the modern world go around, and strong action by them would be disastrous, trouble is mention the phrases ‘stick together’ or use words like militant or unionise and most of the sheep just look the other way, or even worse just bend over and get shafted even more.

I feel sorry for you guys and I understand what you are trying to do but you have to realise how this place works.

Mikey has complete control. Nobody below Mikey has any say at all, its his way or the highway. If you are L2 or L3 you have a bit of influence, but go against his will and you'll be on your way to "pursuing your career elsewhere" .

As for Mikey's plan - its not long term, its based on the current quarter. After that 12 weeks is up, its the next 12 weeks. Probably the plan is different to the previous twelve weeks. I guess that is what happens when he has enormous personal gain every twelve weeks. Maybe if we had a similar pay structure we'd play the same game.

I've worked for much, much smaller companies (sub 1000 employees) and even at that scale a megalomaniac CEO micro managing everything is a disaster. When it comes to something this big you really cannot hope to have one person in charge of everything, you have to delegate power and responsibility. But he won't have that. If he delegates then people do their own thing and that can't be allowed to happen.

I understand that ES had devolved power much like CSC had done pre-Mikey - it was the only way to actually run a global business. However, what you are seeing is the same thing CSC went through, a brutal and bloody purge until he has powerless yes men in every position, too frightened to do anything without the Supreme Leader's personal command.

I've seen others in CSC struggle previously like you are attempting to struggle, it didn't work then and it won't work now.

Sorry.
