@SNIhH1O-rseg The next year you would have 6 managers conducting the appraisal for 1 employee

(.. thats in case they are still with DXC for the next 1 year )

True story from the last few weeks...

Three coal face employees in the UK, same office. Two are performing the same role. Manager A and Manager B with input from Manager C conduct the appraisal of Employee A. Manager D with input from Manager C conducts the appraisal of Employee B. Manager E, on behalf of Manager F, with input from Manager C conducts the appraisal of Employee C. Literally, 6 managers for 3 employees.

Employee A and C have now been notified their position is at risk.

You just could not make it up...

@SNIhH1O-omrm : this is the most straight forward answer seen here in a long time.

"The delivery manager I work for, only consolidates the Friday dashboard from all PM and saves it in the sharepoint."

the question is why is DXC keeping so many delivery managers but very few engineers ?

the management is too bulky

The delivery managers role is redundant and has been taken over by NGDM, however, managers are unlikely to give themselves a WFR letter, and the higher management are too rigid to think that they could do away with Delivery Managers, because they are basically the traditional type.

Its only when all delivery managers are removed and handed the WFR letter, that DXC will improve.

The delivery manager I worked for was fantastic. Knew their stuff and worked hard. A nice, caring person who tried their best to take care of their team. Best manager I ever worked for. Quit in disgust right after Christmas because of some stuff they were asked to do with staff.

Delivery Managers are an oxymoron as the 2 words do not compute.

When you say "Delivery Manager" what do you mean? Offering Delivery Manager, is basically a Project Manager with added skills

I know the question is contentious to encourage more management bashing, but let's assume you are genuinely interested.

In compiling a few bids, I often asked the Senior folks for R then say what you have done about it (or doing about it) and what you are going to do to stop that issue reoccurring...and we can put it in context of the good service they've had from us to date.' There was a long pause. "But we HAVEN'T done anything about it...we don't get involved in that." The art of taking ownership and accountability for service delivery problems was definitely an alien concept. I don't know if things are different now. Seems the model is still changing to find one that works.

They are the customer facing representative of the service, supposedly put in place to manage contract deliverables and facilitate new business. In reality there to act as customer punchbags. Their job is to get a kicking off the dissatisfied customer as they attempt to defend a technical resourcing system that fails to support them.

The OP says, "Mostly know nothing and do nothing, so just curious..."

Grow up.

When the delivery managers were appointed, they didnt receive more money only more responsibilities. So of course they do nothing, what would expect? In their defence, even if they want to do anything, they wont be able to. This new delivery model, implies that everyone works as a whole, therefore if something is broken, nothing else will work. With the morale being though the ground, everyone excepted it`s broken, and they continue on with their life. Again, another great example of exceptional management skills.
