Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Retention

I am fairly new to DXC. At every other Corp. I worked you received your bonus. It wasn't always paid out at 100% but there were also years when it was paid out over 100%. For most people their bonus is a significant portion of their salary. I have heard that DXC never pays these out and witnessed it, first hand, last year. How are they retaining any employee's with this type of process. I know that a lot of people leave but I also know many people that have been here 5 + years.

To the person that said "However EDS/HP/HPE/DXC pay employees on a monthly basis which is fraudulent." are you are a idiot. However your paid, daily, monthly, twice a month after you do simple math, you can figure out your yearly pay.

What ever it is, it is.

Lets help @RvGiG9z-3mov

If you look in your Workday (if still employed by DXC) you will see that your compensation is in the form of an annual salary... Upon entering employment they tell you how you will be paid... weekly, bi-weekly are the most common. Monthly in a few countries.

So if you were to divide your annual salary it would look something like this...

Paid weekly: annual salary / 52 weeks

Paid biweekly: annual salary / 26 weeks (with two pay cycles having no benefit, some insurances deducted)

If paid monthly then I would bet much dollars that it is your annual salary / 12.

I can think of a few things to gripe about with DXC but simple math is not one of them.

@RvGiG9z-3mov were you RIF'ed for being too stupid or something?

You really don't understand what a annual salary is?

Having been WFR'd last year I now work for a competitor which pays employees on a fortnightly basis. However EDS/HP/HPE/DXC pay employees on a monthly basis which is fraudulent. Let's look at the maths:

Competitor in the real world: 26 fortnights (or 52 weeks).

DXC: 12 months (4 weeks per month) works out at 48 weeks of pay. Being paid on the 15th of the month under DXC (on the basis of 2 weeks in arrears and 2 weeks in advance) then as each month does not have exactly 20 working days (including public holidays) the 2018 calendar year contains a total of 20 working days (excluding local holidays) which are unpaid and donated to the charitable DXC, and Mikey is banking the employee generosity.

Apparently this is all above board with HR but it is pure bollucks. Where is the equality and why don't DXC issue fortnightly pay runs?

Bonus, Pay raises do you who your working for? That's the funnest thing I heard all year. DXC doesn't give bonus or pay increases to anyone but high up ion the company.

Be glad you get paid on time and that you don't have to pay for all your health insurance (at least in the US).

For HPE folk the pay rise and bonus pools have been pathetic at best, or deferred as the company made little profit. For many employees that worked they guts out for a financial year only to find that the performance ratings (aka bell curve) were tightened up then that was kick it the guts. If inflation is running at 4% and an employee receives a bonus of 0.5% then their salaries are going backwards. The pay rise pool has always been very small and the chances of receiving a reasonable increase are very low. A few years ago I was rated "well exceeds expectations" and received a small bonus because the budget was severely slashed due to a regional account not making their margins. Well thanks a load you tossbags and thanks a lot to the grand poobahs in management that received better compensation benefits than workers in general.

@RvGiG9z-1fab - That figure is a little higher than I remember but what the poster is referring to is an Investor Day presentation that Mick gave related to the future of DXC.

Slide 19 he states that a sustainable margin will be obtained by saving one billion dollars in the 1st year, where 400 million is achieved by "workforce optimization" (Closing facilities, supply chain and policy alignment are the other methods)

The people numbers are from various transcripts from earnings call that he has stated that DXC will move from 175,000 to 125, 000 employees.

Also the slides are peppered with statements like "optimized using machines and task robots" "consolidate redundant roles"

All in all it is beyond clear that WFR is in the plans for DXC and retention is not a main goal of the organization.

It is on the DXC public site and can be found here:

http://assets1.dxc.technology/investor_relations/downloads/DXC_InvestorDay2017.pdf

On that site is the plans laid out for DXC and the future. One cannot claim ignorance of things to come when Mike has been clear as day what the plans are for the future of DXC and you as an employee.

@1mkw Where does the figure of 80,000 employees come from please?

No bonus, no raises. These is Mikey's core values.

HPE people aren't used to this, CSC people have suffered it for years.

Retention is the exact opposite he wants to achieve. He's got to get rid of 80,000 employees in 3 years.

If he can persuade you to leave without a payoff, he's quids in.

Welcome to the machine.

The huge round of layoff is waiting to happen mid and end March. Non technical staff will be culled.

Retention isn’t paramount over the coming years, shareholder appeasement is. Customer is 2nd. Staff retention, moral etc is 3rd.

This approach has quite a finite lifespan.

I guess those with 5+ years are waiting to be made redundand and get some compensation package? Even that is naive.

There will be more and more leaving.

Hilarious!! Why would you join DXC. You will fit in well.

Retaining employees? Are you serious - they do not want to retain anyone.

This is a very funny post.

People who have been here for years are tropically from former companies. HPE did pay bonuses. DXC doesn't pay bonuses or give pay raises. Quit while the going is good.

You will see more leave . Guaranteed. People stuck around for what ever reason they had to. Now that the economy is improving , and other companies are hiring quality staff , and willing to pay for it , you will see an exodus . The feudal system ended centuries ago . It's time for DXC to catch up with the times . Enjoy the view .
