Up front disclosure, yes I was laid off today and my family is absolutely devastated. But Indra saying they were only laying off less than 1% is manipulation. The reality is that PepsiCo is laying off a staggering 10% of corporate jobs (i.e. HQs in NY, Plano, and Chicago). 1% doesnt seem all that bad when you add in all of DSD drivers, factory workers, admins, etc. Today was a huge blood bath at the mid-senior levels....R&D at all sites are getting rocked....good work Mehmood....now who is going to drive you essential innovation programs...you laid off all of your most valuable assets for no reason.

19 yrs of service. Just one from the vaunted 20th anniversary and 5 from my pension being real nice. Instead, I have a pension less than my 401k! All that time and personal investment condensed to a 15 min conversation...and we dragged it out. I saw a lot of friends and superstars on the cut list.
What happened to the G’s? A lot of the innovation challenges can be traced back there. Coordinating lift and adapt of region developed products is not a global innovation strategy
The R&D team couldn’t overcome the next generation soda.
Imagine the person who rolled out sparkling lemonade soda. Think about this for a moment. The lemonade category is about .05% of the LRB category and sparkling captures around 1/4 of the consumers. So that’s around .00125 of the population. They rolled out sparkling lemonade and cost Pepsi millions. Pepsi responds by eliminating floors of people innovating mediocre brands that complicate the fields activation of our Core brands.
The top people laid off will find jobs. The weaklings will not find work. Make a difference everyday and you’ll never have trouble finding work.
New employee, just a little advice, don’t ask about severance. People that have invested 25+ years of their lives into this company lost all of that today so just be happy you have your job and have some empathy for those who don’t.
I am sorry for your lost. The biggest indicator was your inventory on the shelves in the grocery stores. No one is buying the products in the same manner as they did a few years ago. It doesn't matter where you place the product. I see people walk by them like zombies.
MAGA!
@wbx - same here - I am a manager as well. I had a person on my team who got axed and I even did not know until he was notified.
Horrible.
Sad.
@RJUK9TL-bnf I'm a manager and I was told to not approach my directs who were let go before or after they were notified. It felt awful. For one, I wasn't even notified until after she was already gone.
What was hit most at flhq?
What is the severance pay like at Pepsico? New employee here.
I was one of them, but I am so happy to be out of that toxic environment !
Watching all this in Plano today was the hardest thing I've seen. I feel for you all. The names are piling up.
Was also laid off after 25 years with the company. It took about 10 minutes to go through the package and kick me out. My direct was not even present. Sad.
