HCMRN future?

Anyone know if more HCMRNs will be laid off in April? How many?

When will we go to auto dialer and lose our roster if this is the way HAH is going?

HCM RN here.. not impacted.. YET that is. My concern at first was placing mbrs to monitored. And with the new cgx system we made changes to the care plans. 4 years ago the care plans had to be impeccable, as well as out call notes. Now, it seems with very shortened call notes and care plan with 1000 characters to be used seems out of compliance. Just feels like everything is being "weeded down". No more calls to well done... needing to place our own orders. I just see in my "crystal ball" that our members will be managed at home by Kindred care givers post DC or as tasked. I can see our members getting assigned Kindred with all their health care needs at home, eliminating other agency HH. Am I the only one feeling this way?

@2cxu, if you're in nursing you definitely missed your calling! That's the funniest thing I've read all day!

Come into my parlor and let's consult my crystal ball. For an extra $25, I will read your palm!

I never do anything without consulting my crystal ball first. Now close your eyes so I can be better in tune with the infinite. Now let's see, I see a house, a picket fence, a barn, a weathervane of a running horse, and a care-worn nurse sitting at her desk. Wait, what's this? She's clutching her phone in one hand and computer mouse in the other. She's looks stressed and over worked. There's a man standing over her. He has a monogram on his shirt with the initials BB. It looks like he's packing up her things, prying the phone out of her hands. No wait, he's riding away on his bicycle with a little dog in his basket. My crystal ball has faded to black. Pay no attention to that man behind the computer screen! The great Oz of Humana has spoken!

HCMRN--non impacted here, I know they are looking to home health as the holy grail but from working in all aspects of home health for over 10 yrs, I can say that not everyone, in fact, many elderly do not want people coming in their homes. But those same people might be willing to be managed by phone, so its better to be managing them by phone than nothing. I think they will see that there is still a big need for telephonic management.

I just do my job and if it happens it happens. If I have done my best and that is not good enough then I will move on. I am not 3. I can find another position. I had one before I came here It will be ok

Look for another job if you aren't liking the gloomy forecast that so many posters are predicting. Where is my glass ball, Ouija board, and Tarot cards when I need them? One day at a time is all I can do right now.

Every now and then I think 'you couldn't make it up'. Then I look on this site and discover you can make it up and people do make it up. You are going to drive yourself nuts if you continue like this. Rather than spend time dream sh-- up do some simple job searches, make plans in case something does happen. Don't be a lemming, take control of your life. And I was impacted 5 years PHC

If HCMRN's will only be calling alerts they are going to need only a small number of us. If this is the case we will be seeing more and more RIFs it seems.

@RE0tQfn-gcr I see the reason for your RIF. Coaches know attitudes of employees

There is no plan to cut hours. Changing to hourly is simply due to all of you b--ching about working over 40 hours per week and threatening lawsuits. Nothing sinister involved. Remember they switched PHCs to non-exempt status long ago.

KA said HAH is not going away, so I believe the scenario of less of a role and working alerts only. Autodialer really isn’t bad. The screen for the member autopopulates. You do have plenty of time to document before you get another call. Much easier to meet metrics, too.

Former impacted SS This just a theory: They will go hourlyThis way they can schedule as many hours as they want , drop you under 32 and then they don,t have to pay your health insurance or any other benefits They will probably make you reapply for your job as hourly not hire you and then don’t offer severance .......my money is on this scenario

@tvq- what is the hcmss role in that model? Still tasked things by CMs?

I can assure you telephonic is not going away. It will be part of the new model of care, just no longer the primary focus. You will take a more ancillary role with the more chronic members receiving home health. This is the current plans for the future of HAH. It is not being phased out.

@tvq I have also heard rumors we were going to autodialer and that was why they added the cgx link in hcat so that when we are on autodialer we can pull up members easier since we won't have a roster list anymore and we won't have to search for the member that we are calling

I was told by a com that I know that telephonic isn't going away, but that it will be very very different over this next year. She said there will not be assigned rosters going forward, everyone will be placed on the autodialer and calls will be made to alerts only. If a member needs a higher level of care they will go to an in home nurse. She said the plan is the merge kindred with the current ltih program because that is where maximum reimbursement is. The timeline to move everything to this model is currently 1 year, but may be extended depending on the kindred acquisition and if any issues arise from that.

There is a rumor that there will be, I don't know that it has any basis or if it's just people speculating. Based on the last 13 months it would fit the pattern that Humana has used. If there is, I don't think they know how many will be impacted yet. They will recover and reassess after this round and decide what they need. Attrition will likely be very high with this latest round, so they may not need to pay off many more nurses (if any at all). Good luck
