Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Chorley room of DOOM...

Those who work at Chorley will know there is a designated room where they are deciding if you are surplus to requirements or not. It’s awful that this is being done right under staffs noses. Problem is there is a true struggle of resources in the HUB, morale is at an all time low, underpaid and overstretched and this is only going to get worse if the management keep thinking that automation will fix everything. Projects are failing, new work will not get delivered and staff will soon just leave. Instead of making people feel uneasy you could at least start making your current staff feel valued and provide incentives. But doing this right on the the staff doorstep is just bulls**t.

look. we all need to work together and make sure all offices have a good reputation.

these posts are personal and unprofessional. the leadership team have own challenges and support you all. Yes some tough choices have to be made.

for those who post here and so unhappy, let your line manager know and we can look at making an offer for you to move onto pastures new. the grass not always greener but go. could be best decision you made.

be brave and take the move on option. will be better for those who stay.

if you are posting negative comments that is a sign you should leave and take your career in own hands.

have a good Christmas and successfull 2018

Hi Karen or is it Fiona now?

Nobody is dumb enough to post from work, secondly DXC don’t have any staff to do forensics... and what’s more retarded is you would need to hack the layoff first before you could get that info. Stupid cretin!!

Disgruntled clients are suing DXC left, right and centre over missed delivery milestones and a failure to honor contracts. The idea that the clients are being kept fully informed about the cuts is a fantasy!

IP addresses are being monitored and will be mapped to your profile ;-)

All staff in and around Chorley are highly suspect ;-)

SAP will be the last to go .. so play your cards accordingly

"I enjoy the debate on here, but why does no-one seem to know how to spell “lose” (not “loose”), and “you’re” (not “your”) ? Or is this indicative of the quality of staff ?"

Really ? That's what bothers you ?

Perhaps check your spelling of "no-one"...think you'll find it is "no one", no hyphen :)

Wasn't going to mention it but seeing as you are being so pedantic ......

It’s about margins at the end of the day...

The accounts we work for know full well that staff are squeezed, but lawrie and his cronies give them assurances about service levels. This is 100% fact. You will have heard time and again the likes of Wilson, Hands etc explicitly states that clients are aware. Yes some client counterparts kick off but fact is their opinion holds to value in the grand scheme of things as the cuts discussions are above their pay grade.

Clients like to see and learn to what extent they can push their luck, look at BAE for example. Typhoon is f---ed and JSF isn’t really theirs. So what do they do... have enough to manage Typhoon for run and maintain and ditch the rest.

The accounts with poor margins DXC don’t want. So they don’t really care if they go elsewhere. National Grid was one such account, they were loosing a few million a month and that was a mature account. They couldn’t wait for NG to leave.

Bottom line work professionally but ONLY against what your expected, there is no way going above and beyond helps. If anything your screwing over your own family and colleagues in the process.

Last thing... grads and apprentices keep getting told they are the future, they have a vested interest in working hard because they actually see the TL or supervisors job as something they can get. So they also contribute to you losing your job. Harsh but true!! I don’t blame them, but fact is, if they can get a role paying 18-22k they’ll be happy, they are young and have less outgoings. So DONT share their burden, let them work their arses off.

Hardinge and McLaughlin !

Just a pair of brown nosers with zero management skills !

Sooner they are culled the better. In fact you could loose that whole layer of "mis"management and nobody would notice.

Glad I'm out of it .

Just echoing the sentiments about working hard - Cuts will continue until an effect is seen.

When asset stripping, it's a standard management technique. Once it is seen the cuts have a material effect (SLAs being missed) , thats when management know they have cut enough, and start to slaken off the redunancies

Its your choice - work like a dog, make yourself ill to keep SLAs (you are pressed hard by management to do this) or let SLAs slide. The first means you will be disposed of, the second will keep you employed with the benefit of less stress.

Upper management know that accounts will be lost, they are counting on it.

That’s SAP right?

The BAES account is more than SAP, that’s just one small part of app support, loosing the SAP award doesn’t necessitate closing a whole site down lol that’s an absurd assumption to make given that barely 2% of the local workforce work in SAP.

Within 2 years Chorley will be closed because of lost GDN work.

A few chorlies will be tupe'd to CG but the vast majority of grunts (L5 and below) won't be needed.

One of DXC's few "projects" (which is just finishing) is to provide an estimate for an upgrade project This customer awarded the estimating work to DXC with a very tight timeline of end of year.

The customer's due diligence demanded immediate action on their part, to mitigate exposure to DXC 's collapsing ability as a service provider and the loss of core knowledge before service provision could be tupe'd.

CG are being prep'ed to take over the resulting upgrade work in 2018, with the exercise also used as initial KT for service provision.

Some senior Chorley people will be body shopped for KT, but not all (if they are still around!)

Chorley will be closed within 2 years....

Your right in every word you have written, and yes there is that room.

However to wish you would be treated with respect is like asking for hell to freeze over.

Hardinge and McLaughlin run the show there but are rarely seen in that room. They have minions who perform that role of cut n slash.

Bottom line is more than management blame your fellow colleagues and staff in Chorley for this environment. If they continue to absorb the pain and go above and beyond, the likes of McLaughlin will never feel the pressure. Let sh-- fail, let sh-- collapse, do the bare minimum but be tactful to be able to justify your time. NEVER do anything extra even if they claim they loose the BAE contract.

When they do the cuts, they DONT look at who works hard, or how many times you let them screw you. Some people say Mckenzie draw up a list using some special matrix and your f---ed. But I am convinced that your L4/L5 decides. I’ve heard first hand that the company eye efficiencies in a particular team, probably with help from Mckinzie and then the manager gets told you have to get rid of X people.

Hilda Taylor and Helen Forde were McLaughlin’s minions for cuts and part of the so called transformation team... so even the hatchet men get chopped.

Bottom line they don’t care who you are or what you do, but as long as you keep bending over they will continue to collect their bonus and keep cutting your team down further expecting you to work that extra 10% harder.
