The smell of ben-g-- and old spice after shave is stifling at shakopee.

For the newbie with that new engineering smell. Those old goats have generated PhD dissertation level solutions in short time spans to solve stop ship, customer woes, and new technologies. You need to listen and learn; instead of grumble and complain.

Those "old goats" built this company from the ashes of Shugart Associates and Imprimis and would love to continue to make this company thrive. It's bad enough that the highest levels of management now seem to view them as a burden but now we have a new hire who seems to have never learned how to respect and learn from the "old goats." Is there any wonder why this company is doomed?

When you have invested significant hours into design and delivery of a product for 15 to 35 years, then you get to comment on cutting a package. The present and former seagate engineers that I know put in countless hours at home and abroad to deliver and excute. Where do you think the innovation comes from? As a newbie I wouldn’t expect any significant contribution from you for at least 2 years. You still trying to figure out where the conference rooms are. For my other colleagues, good luck. If you are still around, keep innovating. That’s what star engineers do.

I agree with the retirement home statement. As a newer higher I only get 1 week of severence per year yet I do most of what little work is left in my area. The constant micro management of more senior people has been rewarded witb dismal raises and until recently forced vacation. Seagate needs to cut costs and parring back the package might encourage some of the old goats to leave.

@QBowzvF-1mrz...you fit right into the selfish and greedy mindset of Seagate hierarchy. Seagate want workers to be generous with their time and help fix the mess that the hierarchy made..its only fair that the hierarchy be generous in return.

Im guessing you want the package cut because youre 100% sure that you wont be RIF'd.It could be you one day and i bet anything you wont be calling for packages cut to 4 weeks max.

Wanting to see others get a worse package even though it won't benefit you in any way. Wow.

With that attitude, they should make you an executive at seagate. You'd fit right in.

Why would you want someones package cut?? It will be hard enough on people losing their jobs and you want it harder on them. What benefit would it be to you if someones package was cut? What would you gain from it?

Thats an incredibly selfish attitude.

SHK hasn't been busy in years. It's turned into a retirement home for the over 40 crowd that's waiting for the package.

Why doesn't Seagate follow WD HDD and IBM's lead and cut the packave back to 4 weeks max?

It's not till friday man. Look at your managements calendar, if you see what I see, that's the day.

They usually pick wednesdays for layoffs but employees recognized that and were feeling too comfortable on non-wednesdays so now layoffs can be any day of the week.
