WFR - voluntary redundancies

I'd go for voluntary redundancy if it is available, been there for almost 11 years, should get around $40K. Then will go self employed contracting.

Voluntary vs forced. That makes a bit more sense.

I am the original poster on this thread. I wrote $40K as I thought a lot of the people on this forum are from the US. I am based in the UK, so I converted the £ to $. I asked for an estimation of voluntary redundancy a few years back, and it was around £28,000 if I took voluntary or £8K if I was forced redundancy. Apologies if this mislead you, but I am based in the UK.

I’m surprised anyone gets hired when companies face that kind of liability.

Same in UK. Got £60k for 20 years service and the added extra of never having to enter a dxc office again!

$40k is nothing ... as @Q1r1Ovn-2oqs points out correctly - Aussie employees get paid very fairly based on the terms specified in the latest approved industrial agreement that applies to them. You Yanks are being taken to the cleaners and ML knows it too.

The world is not USa guys. Certain countries are having certain agreements in their contracts. And yes 40 K is possible as payment for this service in Europe. And it is a fact that we do receive it ,

Feel sorry for you yanks. I was in hpe oz (Australia) a few years back. Due to wfr local laws saying min 3 months pay and also having long service and annual holiday leave accrured which by law HAS TO BE PAID i got over 100k aftdr tax for 12 year service. But not cause of hp being generous. we in oz stick up for workers and while being captalist country we still have enough string unions which make these laws for all workers not just there members if they lose there job through no fault of there own.

Time you yanks throw the yoke off excess capitalism.. god bless america hey !!!

If you can beat your $347k salary by quitting and contracting back, go for it. Otherwise go back to math class and learn how to cipher.

If you are in the US you may want to double check your math before volunteering. For 11 years service you would receive 6 weeks payout (that do not the same thing as 6 paychecks) For you to get 40k you would have to have an annual salary of $346,667.....
