Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Is you Site empty?

My site in the US is extremely empty. I know many people work from home now. When I go in I see maybe 5-6 people. What are they doing with these US sites? Are sites in Europe and Asia similar?

My site is extremely empty. Monday morning looks like Saturday night sh--. Nobody nowhere, just empty office space.

@PzXKblz-3jau I assume because my manager classified me as 'mobile', not teleworker. I'm betting no one bothered to look at a map. I don't really care though, I'm 8 months away from retiring. If they WFR me now, oh well, it comes a little early. That is how come I haven't stressed looking for another job outside of DXC. I could...my skills are current and valuable. I just don't want to have a new job for 8 months.

@3fho How did you manage to avoid Meg's "teleworkers must report back to the office or else" initiative from last year?

I don't know if "my" site is empty or not. The site I was local to stayed HPE and the site I'm officially assigned to is 140 miles away. I've never been there.

I work in South Pacific and 3/4 of the staff are now gone through either WFR or resignation. My local library has a more vibrant atmosphere now than in this office.

It's been getting empty for a while over here now. (a country in Europe). I work in a global team though. I try no to go to the office because the air is dead there and it is too loud there for my taste. I am allowed 50% HO but now more and more do even 100%. To be honest, I don't care anymore if they fire me. I've been involved in some process changes and now I am running the process which is awful, cumbersome, workload heavy... I burned out but still have to continue working as if nothing was wrong. No resources to support me. Tight deadlines. Partial or 'maybe ok' results are accepted.

I cannot work under such circumstance and slowly ruining my health. I am deciding whether to leave. This company doesn't seem to have structure, values or anything I could 'do the extra mile' for anymore.

Small office was closed here, but it was usually full. Everyone got moved to a huge soulless office miles away with no public transport and bad traffic. Needless to say it looks half empty as they fired half the staff and relaxed WFH rules for the others. The latter was a good idea I think - it's hard for the company to say you have to be in an office to do your job whilst moving as much of the work as possible overseas. We can literally do our job from anywhere.

One of the criteria used to select victims for RIF in CSC/DXC is being a remote worker. I don't mean sometimes not coming into the office, but being permanently working from home.

I guess its only another random reason, along with being too old or too expensive or just happening to live in the wrong part of the same country.

ps My office location is like a ghost town. In fact, its probably better to come into the office if you need to concentrate vs being at home - I think I have more people in my house than here.

In Japan HQ, over 80% seats are using because locally FWP is admitted twice in a week...

I go into the office maybe 3 days per week, but never enjoy it. I largely work independently or with remote colleagues - so it's not really necessary to come in. Some others in the office have not come in for months, and others come in rarely (once a month or so).

It really is dead in the office. Walking past rows of empty desks that were once full.

Working at DXC facility is unnecessary for the majority of the workforce, as most people work on remote teams that don't meet face-to-face. Most people still in the office do so because Meg Whitman had an initiative to bring the workforce back to the office before HPE dumped its service people into DXC.

DXC's WFH policy has never been formally announced, but in reality you can work from your home and no one cares.

Working at a site is so depressing. I rather work from home as it is not worth wasting time in the commute for this company.

Speaking about Guadalajara, Mexico. We sublet part of the building to HPE. Day 1 up to date, 300 people out of 900 have left (either WFRd or voluntary leave).

It looks empty as lots of people work from home.
