Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Reminder that Target is notorious for discriminating on the basis of age and even lost a suit once for it.

Target has been paying big money to settle claims for years. Check records in CA.

Target has been settling a lot of age discrimination cases for years. Look at southern ca. They’ve been doing this regularly. Settling for big money too.

Both of the examples given (cut/paste) are not age discrimination related. But each are framed/posted to support the age discrimination arguement. It’s a bit confusing.

@PTpmEEC-2bpb how is the response you got NOT age related? It looks exactly like an age related act of discrimination to me. Someone tries to help you and support you and you can't even accept that. Good luck to you with that attitude. Nobody here is going to list specific examples.

@PTpmEEC-2bpb: I appreciate your apparent concern for my situation. You obviously have some pretty strong feelings and are making some pretty serious accusations. What I'm really looking for is solid examples of discrimination based on age. If you have some solid examples that would be great, but posting examples as support for your (my) argument that actually aren't age related are confusing the issue.

@PTpmEEC-2lba Are you in a situation where you feel you are being discriminated against due to your age? If so, know that at least at HQ there is currently a massive effort to "manage out" many employees. Most of them are 50+ with many years of service. There are the occasional obligatory younger folks added in for good measure however most of the folks are older with a long tenure. Target's preferred employee is right out of college and much cheaper. Target cannot go forward with an official lay-off because the list of employees being laid off needs to be provided to government to insure there is no act of discrimination occurring. Obviously Target wouldn't get away with this. There are several other older posts about this on this site. The good news is, people are finding MUCH better and better paying jobs outside of Target. Good luck to you.

I'm just trying to reconcile the posts here. The OP posted accusations of Age Discrimination at TGT and that TGT had "lost a suit." Citing a cut/paste of a case against TGT did not lose...

So the answer to am I missing something is another case that has absolutely nothing to do with age discrimination? I read that but and past as well.

I read the original post hoping there was some facts behind the OP's comments that I could use to support me in my particular situation.

Target did pay out on a settlement. Age discrimination at Target is alive and well to this day. Ask any of the 50+ aged folks that are currently or recently being "managed out". If you aren't aware of this then you don't actually work for Target.

Am I missing something on this?

I read the cut/paste. Beckford's case against Target was dismissed by the court. In other words, Target was not found to be discriminatory against her.
