Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Too much Negativity here - not fair

Okay, I have been reading some of these posts, and I'm thinking that the other side needs some representation. So I did some digging to see what Seagate is actually one of the best companies out there.

Consider these facts, which can be found at the Seagate website:

  1. Seagate has everything you need to take your talent to new heights.

  2. More than 50,000 Seagate employees in 22+ locations are building exciting and rewarding careers at one of the world’s most admired companies.

  3. They state: "People are our competitive advantage. Successful individuals are the driving force behind a successful enterprise. Attracting, retaining, and motivating the best people will position Seagate at the forefront of the industry."

  4. The also state: "We believe it is important to honor our employees and their innovative spirit, outstanding performance and significant contributions. Seagate has established Recognition and Reward programs and other internal awards to reward and recognize their achievements, as well as promote and strengthen our commitment to our key values."

That is pretty darn good, if you ask me!

So I don't see how people can be complaining, given these four examples (I am sure that there are more)...

We did a Baldridge survey about four or five months ago; management made a strong effort to ensure everyone would take the survey so that they could get right to work on rectifying any issues, concerns, or, even possibly, complaints. They are still diligently striving to create the Best Action Plan in response. It will be really great, I'm sure, considering how much time and effort they must be putting in to it.

Seagate has amazing employees. And they have the best executive management team, and they are an Employer of Choice. Let the "Focus on People" Rollout begin!!

No need to go above and beyond for Seagate. Poor Morale is beyond repair. Just do the minimum until the layoff. Collect you check and go home. No need to worry about work load you will never keep up with.

Stop trashing Seagate already. They have the best management. They foster teamwork like no other company I have ever seen. Consider this:

"Teams are the catalysts for our ideas and actions. Every team member has the power to influence the group. We treat this power as a privilege and a responsibility. Teamwork is the foundation of an effective, successful, fun environment in which the whole is greater than the sum of the parts."

See? The environment is even FUN.

Stop whining.

Ex-Employee commenting , Seagate will be here for a while , many of the upper management have given us the bonuses when I was there. So Management treated us good as long as we work like we have been paid to do and produce results.

Got to take the good time with the bad time. Been through a lot with Seagate when I was there, including 2006, 2008,....

Ok @OsDGnmW...im guessing you are some way involved in upper management because thats the type of bulls*#t that upper management spew.We in Seagate Derry Northern Ireland also did a survey and and only 20% of the employees survey would recommend Seagate to family member or friend. The results of the survey wete so negative against Seagate as a company and against management that it was all sweeped under the carpet.Insultingly low pay rises and profit share.Seagate is an awful place to work...overworked and underpaid.

LOL. For anyone that does not get the Jim Mora reference....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oSFYxDGKy8

It sounds like he is talking about recent STX financial results and strategic decisions over the years...

"...you ain't gonna beat anybody. And that was a disgraceful performance... we gave 'em the friggin' game....In my opinion, that s---ed.... Holy crap, I don't know who the hell we think we are, when we do somethin' like that, Unbelievable.... That's pitiful. I mean its absolutely pitiful, to perform like that. Pitiful."

Now that is a great picture! A real, cotton-pickin', larger than life Seagate Employee by the name of Willbur Whatkims!

Now please go look at this picture, which, as you can see, resides on the Seagate website:

http://www.seagate.com/files/www-content/about/jobs/_shared/images/jobs-benefits-dev-benefits-d-1170x275.jpg

What do you see? Allegedly, these are some kind of happy Seagate employees, engaged at work. Probably fixing Hamr problems or some such other creative endeavor. Certainly not sitting around and whining about layoffs (/Jim Mora Voice/ "Layoffs?! LAYOFFS??!? /Jim Mora Voice/)

But let me break it to you, folks: They are not actually Seagate employees. They are Royalty-Free Picture People, probably created using Photoshop over at Shutterstock.

I have never, not once, not ever, seen any people that look like that, working at Seagate.

False advertising. SAD!

Lol this was great.

Fortunately, people aren't buying the b---s--- anymore. Seagate is having trouble hiring talent for the positions they aren't laying off. Prospective employees are requiring huge salaries because they know theyll be treated like crap.

Seagate's reputation is catching up with itself. It's about time too.

Your post was masterful. Its too bad you can't have images on this site, so you could attach a picture of the emperor with no clothes to represent the Seagate website. Thank you.
