Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Resign or wait for WFR ( to be given the package ). What's your opinion?

In the context of cost savings, it makes logical sense to only provide opportunities for hiring/career developments/promotion/increments to those interns/entry/intermediate going forward. What are the opportunities left for the more senior team members from Specialist level and above?

Goals setting and quarterly performance assessment for employees have started in July/August. Could be another way to get rid of the employees, Employee' life might be made more difficult and they could be asked to leave indirectly if the performance expectations are not met. We might see new policies, new expectations and culture to make the chopping easier. Knowing DXC, it's no surprise if they come up with new ways and move the goal posts every now and then to meet the numbers and stock up the share price.

As far as i know, everyone's morale is at the lowest. Many did not turn up in the office and most of them are working from home. Funnily enough is that, they see no future in the company in terms of career development/promotion/increment, yet they are hanging on and staying in the company because they are hoping they will part of the WFR list and get the lucrative package. They are sitting under the durian trees and waiting for the durians to drop now. :D

For those who have taken the $$ package, they are lucky. Might not be easy anymore to get package as months pass us by.

What should we do? wait for durian to drop or resign since the opportunities are fewer now. Getting us resign might be the company strategy to reduce the fixed cost / payout. I guess we should stay and wait for the package right?

Or you use this this turbulent time to reskilll yourself or build yourself another career path. I personally know people as such in the company doing so since last year and they are getting good package now and off to flying start in another company. I supposed they already forsee this going to happen. If dxc doesn't value us, use the company time to prepare and train ourselves, so that your new skill can be appreciated and recognized elsewhere. I'm doing that right now. Every day I m using the company resources to up skill myself.

The other point is to get out now whilst they still have money left to give you.

I got out on my terms. Found a job that, after almost a full year, I'm still very happy with.

Feel free to wait longer, at lower pay, unhappy, for the shot at severance... and run the risk of settling for a job because you have run out of time.

Fortune favors the bold. Sometimes, we have to make our own opportunities - or at least make the best out of the opportunities we are given. Waiting for handouts from a crappy employer? Pink Floyd had something to say about time, and sticking with a bad employer seems like a good way to "fritter and waste away the hours in an offhand way".

At the very least, start your job search now, train as much as possible. Remember one golden rule: Don't let your bitterness show in the interviews. Limit discussion to your accomplishments and limit the reason for leaving to "career dead end" and no job security and drop the rest.

Good luck.

The amount of people leaving currently isn't enough. They will WFR you if you ask. Find another job, then ask your manager to WFR since there is an WFR exit every other Friday. Get your package and go work for someone else, no way DXC is around in 2 years.

Let's get real for a second. This scheme is actually genius. Try thinking about it like this. You want to flip your workforce, but laying people off costs money. So if you constantly tell them the truths in their plans rather then hide them it incentivizes you to leave on your own. This there by makes you more happy and does not cost them any money.

Think of it like the A-Hole boyfriend ploy to break up with a girl but with business.

And the assumption is that after a period of time if you are still here it must be because no one else wanted you.... you are over paid... and under skilled. So yea do not be surprised if the compensation packages get smaller and smaller as time goes on.

Just book your time to admin WBSE codes ... someone should realise soon enough that such an employee deserves a WFR. Don't give up hope ...

I am waiting for the package and enduring the hard days till then. In Europe the package for someone with +20 years is a lot of money that will allow you to make a good start if you are planning to start your own company. Until now nothing is known in my country and I am checking every day. The sooner out of here the better.

If you have a lot of years service - which is probably the only thing keeping the 'remainers' in DXC right now - then hang on for the payout.

But be sure, that 'hanging on' will continue to be painful I am afraid, as DXC will surely come up with even more draconian ways of making your work life in DXC unbearable, with further Draconian cost-cutting measures until March 2018 in the hope that it may inspire more to leave or just force them to leave if they don't.

The KRA/goals are now nearly all financial with just 1 customer satisfaction thrown in to make it look like a 'balanced' scorecard. Of course everyone will fail against the financial goals anyway, so it will only be down to their manager playing favorites again, as to whether you get rated down or get to stay to cover their backs and make them look good a little longer. As they are thinking just the same as you, but of course have you as their buffer right now.

If you think the money is worth putting up with all this cr*p then by all means stay and play the waiting game. If your well being is more important then leave.

All I can say is once you leave, you will feel like a great weight has been lifted and will find new energy you didn't know you had. It can't be healthy continuing to work in that place, not when there are so many other roles, options and companies who will value your contribution, offer incentives, nights outs and team summer events because they understand that happy and strong teams are far more productive and loyal than one where it is being constantly bullied.

Package s---s in USA and if you have an option to leave, have another job etc., package should be the last item holding you with this company. If you still enjoy your work, your customer, your co-workers, and can't find something much better, stay until you are booted which you will. If you are ready to leave, you can check if your manager will put you on reduction list so you do get what little there is.
