Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What are you doing at Intel these days?...Besides looking for a job.

Many groups I work with do absolutely nothing. No product, no yield, no plan, no customer, no pathfinding.

Our group is very busy. A few slackers were let go but so were several solid senior people, with a hefty sum that is. Can't say much has changed in terms of workload but surely some corners will have to be cut.

@3mzc as much as you'd like to think these things help, at the end of the day nothing can save you if you're truly not wanted. good luck.

I spend most of my time telling others of my retirement plans, hoping they will get the hint and ISP/VSP me the week I retire. Seriously, I knew 3 people this year who were retiring the week that they were impacted by ACT.

BS work is very important. You have job security if you spend 90% of your time discussing what is the better way to add 1 plus 1 with your manager and co-workers. Then build in some bugs to get results other than 2. Then you spend the next few months to debug why it's not equal 2. Once you get 2, email everybody in the company and declare success. That's how you get promoted and safe with your job.

I used to work 60 hours+ a week, well not anymore.. lots of people are going to get shown the door! Yes the stock is at a alltime high, but the rotten core of the company will be exposed next year! BK and Murthy to continue to save their own bacon and cover the terrible strategic mistakes and lack of credible plan in place today will layoff another 20-40K between 2017 and 2018, it is Certain.

Lots of unemployed in Portland, Folsom, Austin, for certain, LOL

Oh, we'll see more employees gone early next year. They are kidding themselves if they believe they are safe. Wait til they have to hit the breadlines! Lol!

@vqh's got it right. This is typical of of most people's days in HF. Others: drop off kids at school then show up at 9 for work. 11:30 early lunch. Leave at 3pm to pick up kids and "work from home". And we know what that means. Anyone claims they're "slammed" with work is pure BS.

We are so behind, I work 7 days a week. We have daily TF for like four years with no end in sight, no weekends and miss many of my kids weekend games, wife's anniversary but the beatings are great

There have been so many better paying jobs in better companies than Intel where I could be working, I wish I could apply for other outside Intel job 😕😐😑 ....

... BUT as as 🙈😢😭 BONDED LABORER who was relocated by Intel I am required to stay at Intel for minimum period.

So still counting days and waiting for few more months to pass...

Each time I apply for a job outside Intel, I get one within 2 to 3 weeks. It is easier for me to get a job outside Intel than at Intel.

At Intel I have tried to get an internal transfer. So far they prefer those with Intel experience of bull$hitting and stupid Intel ways of working without getting anything done, with a focus on pushing excel and PowerPoint crap. #losers

Getting vertical upgraded job is punishment, doing a more stressful job in higher grade with same pay.. they advertise job as one title, but will not change it when they hire you... Then why would I stay at Intel when outside I can get 40% raise, better job title, in a better company, better benefits

There will be another 4-7% gone from this year as L4 and L5 and IR get the boot. Those guys better stay looking now as goons into Q4 and coming out of Q1 with elections and all hiring pace will be cautions at best

Those never on the bubble and average are the new bottom dwellers who need to watch out and proactively look.

Then ACT2 and ACT3 come as x86 dead cat bounce and 10nm true situation is revealed!

Why the poor wishes towards me? I respect the elders, pay tribute to bosses, and get in a solid 4 or 5 hours a day on real work which seems well above averages. For good measures, i do the bs work the company asks for. Ok, guilty, as i shared i play the perception game as well. I speculate most are also more or less doing the same trying to be seen as good. I didn't make the rules.

I come in about 730 and try to park so the boss sees my car near enterance. She loves that i come early. Just in case bosses dont see my car i get some fruit and maybe hash browns and sit in jf5 cafe with my laptop reading mails, being first to finish whatever bs hr training is assigned and then compose a few mails. Basically waste the morning on the bs overhead the powers that be say are required. Then i see if there is a boss or slm that will circle jf on a health break. By now it is 11am. Another 30min of email and it is time for beating the lunch rush. Socialize with bosses for lunch when i can but usually bosses have their admin bring something for some bs lunch meeting so i settle for interrogating peers about their work looking for a way to either one up them or toss under bus. 1230 to 3 is my core productive time. I try to write some code or debug something. Now time to go for afternoon walk. 330 or so now. Work or bs an hour or so and try to beat the rush home. Catch some cricket or football while wife makes dinner. After dinner and reading todlers a story i send some emails to bosses. Sometimes these are just drafts i saved during work day. This way it seems i work non stop. I have my phone by my pillow and a special alert for my boss, his boss and the vp in case they send a mail late night. Seems like the bosses hold me in good regard vs the boomers who just work non stop with dubious productivity. Most are really smart with excellent insight but after decades of non stop stress and above average odds of being declared dead weeds by my hr genius rep it seems like they are mere zombies. I do my best to ask their help and be kind to them because we should respect out elders. They wont be here that much longer.

VSP here - and you are correct. The people with talent, and no fear of getting another job simply took the money and left. The ones who were offered VSP and did not leave are the first ones who will be given ISP. Think about it. The ones who did not leave but offered VSP are the ones who bring no talent, no confident and no hard work for Intel. HR knows this and it is part of the ACT 2 plan. I have said this before. If you were offered VSP and didn't take it then do not be mad when you are given ISP. You had your chance.

The problem is, ACT only kick out the people who did hard work and didn't know how to social, the people who never miss each RCG event stay and survive in each ACT, only the people with good relationship with manager can go to RCG events.

Look no further @vdc. They're in the same group you're in. Why do you think you're being pushed to work harder and take more tasks? It's because your teammates are playing Pokemon Go and attending RCG events. Someone has to do the work. LOL
