30% cuts may well occur eventually if things do not turn around, but I doubt it will happen this year as that type of reorg would take some time to plan and one normally sees evidence that these types of meetings are in the works. Anything could happen next year. That said with no SME and experienced engineers it is not clear what Chevron brings to the table with the national companies that own much of the reserves. Investment money's alone might not be enough!

I believe 30% is feasible based on several conversations with multiple unit managers. Billable hour forcasts are down more than 60%. Some key critical courses are down 70%. Chevron may soon have to decide if they want etc at all. I can tell you this, things get a lot easier with no sme's. To the ignorant anything is possible.....
I for one can't wait and hope to be left standing. I wish the best for those of you who want to stay and make it. I hope you can generate change at some point.
Don't be ridiculous, 3gcn. Once you said "all", you lost all credibility.
He does actually. How else could he have defended us? If he didn't know what we do or what value we bring I'm sure the existing cuts to ETC would've easily been double.
Does Paul Siegele know anything about engineering or technology? From Melody Meyer to Paul Siegele it has been a disaster in leadership.
ETC took a significant hit last fall (20% overall, and much more in some departments), had a major reorg & turnover in management, and repatriated most of its expacts, so I do not agree with the implications that it has not "taken it on the chin" like the rest of the BUs. Improvements in process and procedure are always possible. Been through these downturns before and things always look darkist at the bottom. Don't get too depressed. As before it will turn around.

ETC needs to take it on the chin like all the BU's. Too much waste and overhead and way too slow to keep up with changing technical challenges.
30% will come out of ETC.
I hope something comes out of ETC townhall in August.
I wish I never left Exxonmobil :(
I agree Etc needs a huge change. The hourly charge rate is 2.5 to 3 x the average base pay of the employees. It's all internal money. The business model does not work at low oil prices and we will be low long enough to force change. Everyone I know that works there agrees. Everyone who works there knows it hell.
ETC has had a lot of incompetent people over the years. The charge rates became so high to absorb all of the bureaucratic nonsense sent out from Houston and San Ramon. High oil prices covered those inefficiencies for years, but now it seems the chickens are coming home to roost.
What is CPL?
25-30% cut at CPL.
I heard the cuts over in CPL are going to be HUGE!! And no contractors left after Q1 2017
@1hpb Thanks!
There is no word as of yet on ETC that I know of ... and I am high enough in the chain that most any plans tend leak in fairly short order. That said, do not rule anything out yet. If there are plans for a major cut in ETC I do not think they have formally hit the Unit and team lead level managers yet. Last I heard the ongoing B plan metrics were for zero, -5, -10 ... with the hope that some would be relocation or ongoing volunteer retires if the higher levels were needed. I think there is still general hope that we are near bottom and going forward ETC experts will be needed ... but then again, never underestimate the Q by Q focus of upper level management.

Still that high after alpha. Overall existing workforce reduction in etc is just south of 18%. So 30% more of the renting 82%?
The numbers are probably correct, are could easily be much higher. I was cut from MCBU in April. The rumor at the time was 25-30 percent staff cuts. After the purge, it ended up being almost 50%. Some groups were much higher with the combination of outright staff cuts and either forced relocation to Midland or losing your job.
Most of th SBUs have had or will have 30% cuts. Why would ETC be less?
the bosses don't know much either.
Just overheard the bosses. Don't know if it was conjecture. Which is why I'm asking
Where did you hear this? Stop making up sh--. Are you fishing for answers by throwing random facts?
