Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Whole Foods Market, the worst corporation that I have ever had the displeasure to work for.

Abusive, corrupt, inept, arrogant, and absolutely disgusting management. I can't wait to see it burn. #wholefoodsmarket

I would say the organization is a massive clusterf*** but that would be giving "leadership" way too much credit if I say that. The most beautiful thing to come out of all this is that NOBODY IS FOOLED ANYMORE.

The worst part of this whole mess is that I defended this company for YEARS, seeing other people be abused and still insisting that they didn't speak up enough, or had a shitty attitude. My own TL was pretty decent so it was easy for me to dismiss the others who were frustrated. Now I feel awful for having believed this bullshit all these years.

It wouldn't be quite so bad too, if the company wasn't always touting the core values, and patting themselves on the back for 'Not Being a Typical Corporation'. Yeah, they got that right- we're NOT a regular corporation, we're a mismanaged lumbering arrogant DISASTER, repeating to ourselves that everything is okay while the fire gets bigger and bigger.

I have two job interviews tomorrow. Wish me luck! I'm getting out of here as soon as I can. This company went to hell in the six years I was here, & it WILL get worse.

@F3UEp4t-dhni Isn't it glaringly obvious at this point? Read the comments on this website. This corporation is a joke, and the abuse is out of control. #wholefoodsmarket

It's a cult. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid. It's a grocery store. You work in a grocery store.

8 years at this hellhole, it's been one nightmare after another. You think it can't get any worse, yet it always does. I'm just trying to find another job, some place that will treat me like a human being. Support local businesses, that is the lesson to learn from all of this. Corporations are inherently evil, and way too powerful. #wholefoodsmarket #TeamWFM #WFMteammember

You are so right! I too have worked for fortune 500 Companies and WF is by far the worst one I have ever worked at. I am so looking another job even if I have to take less money. I want out of the toxic environment and the insurance/benefits suck anyway much worse than any fortune 500 I ever worked at! So, it might just all equal out anyway if I take a job with less money but better health insurance and benefits. I am done with hole! Not enough sugar to make that kool-aide drinkable not that I ever drank that crap anyway!!

It is a horrible corporation I only work for the paycheck while I do other things. Don't drink the kool-aid I realize who the kool aid drinkers are and I watch myself around them they are the ones that get it in for you. I realize who the ones on my "Team" are WF is their life. I've never really been a fan of corporations they all pretty much suck. However WF is by far the worst one I've worked for I compare it to being with a toxic abusive partner you really have to be brainwashed or stupid not to see this place for what it is just laugh and get the paycheck. There's a lot of "failing the f---" up at this company. Not all of leadership granted but a lot more fail ups than there should be it's a damn disgrace of a company. I mean really? it's ran by a libertarian with a so called hippie feel good spill what the hell do people expect when they come to work at the place. Also, if you don't know about worker history you won't realize just how much you are getting screwed by this company and to be honest most corporations are like that any damn way so no matter where you go there you are.

Someone really needs to do an honest documentary on this corporation similar to the one they did on scientology, it would be pure gold. #TeamWFM

Management has been told for so long that they walk on water and can do no wrong. It's no wonder that the abuse and fear tactics have reached an ungodly level, and we all know this has been going on for years. They hold everyone to a different standard, everyone can see right through the endless lies. #TeamWFM

Not bitter, not disgruntled, just people speaking THE TRUTH. I was amazed that this company was not the company I wanted to work for. So maybe disapointed is a better word. These posts are an accurate picture and if you don't believe it you need to get de-programmed. Guess there should be a witness protection program for ex TM ....Let the truth be told....

I know that I'm not bitter. That's probably because I only wasted five years of my life on this escapade. Others...well they had many more years in. Anyone who dismisses this as "bitterness" or "disgruntled workers" doesn't get exactly what level of commitment this company asked for and received. And the way people were treated was awful, not just in this layoff but a year earlier in that other big layoff that the company never publicized. And read what people are saying about the disconnect that has gone on for many years between what the company told TMs it stood for versus how so-called leadership behaved. I'm shocked that people aren't even more bitter. Most people here now are looking forward to the inevitable downfall of this house of cards.

YES YES YES! It's definitely on the religious level of total mind control. The enlightened ones are the superior beings (regional leaders) who have been "chosen" by the church elders to transform the world. Anyone who dares to suggest anything doesn't understand that these people are one with the universe, more conscious than us. Thou shalt drink the Starkey Water. Their knowledge is not of this earth. Meanwhile: indecision, confusion, nepotism, favoritism, irrational thinking and total incompetence reign. I have come to believe that the e-team thinks they are high priests of wisdom and that they exist on some selfless, blameless spiritual plane. It's a horror movie.

I couldn't even believe the way that they treated me, and I've worked for plenty of fortune 500 companies. They are on a religious level of abuse, denial, and absolute incompetence. #wholefoodsmarket

I've seen people promoted to ATL for dressing nice and sending out Christmas cards, I am not joking. We are talking about completely incompetent people being promoted into management over and over again, based on what kind of bow tie they wore that day. What an embarrassment this house of cards is. #wholefoodsmarket

Worked my way up, made personal sacrifices to get the job done as I was a FOOL and believed that I was working for a company with integrity. After 15 years of service I was laid off and my position was handed over to someone who had been with company for a year. Hiring/promotions based off of personal relationships not work performance. Wfm does not what someone who asks questions or does the right thing. Leadership just wants people to cover up, don't ask questions and take short cuts. Wish more of the public knew what an absolute joke this company is. Conscious cap does NOT exist!!! It never did!!!!!

In our region they would forget that they had things on promo and change prices all the time. We would get into this infinite loop where due to the limitations of our favorite 4-letter pricing system (formerly known as It Really Sucks), batches had to be re-pushed to every store just to fix the errors that had impacted one or more stores. It was management by email and anyone who missed the push would get back to the desk and then have to email the group.. "Hey you guys changed our price by mistake too." It was all a result of big obnoxious egos, disorganization and more than a few regional people acting as if they were jacked up on something like mushrooms. On many Wednesday promo changeover mornings, by 10:30 am no one knew what the price of anything was despite having an inbox full of emails, clarifications, corrections and mistakes. Another thing our region loved to do was change like 1000 prices overnight with zero scheduling, no warning whatsoever to the affected teams or to store leadership. And in that batch of 1000 would be numerous errors and a whole bunch of prices changed on sale items. What a mess. Of course no one was ever held accountable.

Yes. Embarrassingly enough I remember a specific e-mail chain, going to the IT people in a particular region about tare weights for meats. Someone pointed out an error that regional sent out in the e-mail, along with a correction. Nothing malicious, it was to be helpful and other IT people obviously thought so because they thanked this person for clarifying it. Well, it was the END OF THE WORLD after that. This regional person was NOT going to allow this person to humiliate them! They sent out several more e-mails to the whole region, at first condescending & telling the person he was wrong- and then when it was crystal clear who was actually wrong- he made sure that everyone knew that if you're going to correct something he sent down, you need to go to HIM FIRST. Yeah, problem with that was he never listened to the guy in the first place who suggested the correct process.

I thought maybe regional had a little too much coffee that day, but oh no that just turned out to be normal. Can't believe I worked there for so long, when in REALITY people don't behave like that at a professional workplace. If they do, they're fired. Makes it crystal clear to me what kind of 'workplace' wfm really is. And don't worry, the regional IT person is still in charge (kind of), and the guy who sent out the friendly correction was laid off last year. Gotta retain the talent you know! But guess what! We keep in touch and he's ELATED that he got out with a severance when he did...

I never saw people who were SUPPOSED to be leaders (generally regional nincompoops) get so insanely defensive over every little thing. Meanwhile, they made numerous mistakes every day and had zero actual leadership skills. The reason they're so nasty and ill all the time is because they know they're useless and incompetent! And what made it worse was the picture they painted of having this enlightened approach to management. It was (and is) a total farce. If only people knew how PHONY the entire "conscious capitalism" shtick is. And it extended to every department, even to the STLs who would just be shaking their heads and rolling their eyes during conference calls or while reading some idiotic email contradicting the last email contradicting the prior email or some spat going back and forth over email. TOXIC! Disorganized, unprofessional and totally phony!
