You people do understand that "sales goals successes" are not driven by faith and loyalty to Target, right? The consumers and economy drive exchange of goods and services. I've listened to hundreds of pep talks by Target leaders that could be summarized with "Close your eyes, clutch your mystical tomes, and BELIEVE!" (So, if it isn't working, someone is not believing hard enough...burn the heretics) I've heard store leaders cajole truck unloaders with accounting statistics, and "sales" goals, and I've watched guests shake their heads in disgust at cheap, poorly made asian crapadoodle. I've heard managers tell little white lies about operations decisions that impact the customer and the hourly worker, just to squeeze a few percentage points toward manager compensation thresholds. You do realize consumers would dump Target without a thought, if these types of stores had not driven out small, independent businesses and domestic production. yadda yadda yadda. There are a few, just a few, people in the entire Target management that know the truth, to wit: it is all about profit, not about running a business intelligently, or ethically, or innovating anything, or actually anything that benefits society. Therefore, the corporate divisions are props, and the corporate employees are hired extras, and the business model is to skim cash and ship it off elsewhere. Why do you think Target executives seem younger, less bright, oddly eccentric, compared to executives from other businesses?

EL9kkcM-3yyp - Sounds like standard propaganda perception process with a little HR sprinkled in. If you just realized this is what happened in September, look back over the last few years. Hey by the way, do my work for me so I can go outside and smoke. I will take credit for it later or throw you under the bus - all depends on what makes me look better in the eyes of those who are not knowledgeable in the upper layers to catch on that I am a coward and a fake.
Its obvious that they got it wrong in September, they let the wrong team members go and kept ones that should immediately be handed walking papers! What a mess Target has become, seems it will continue for some time

I believe the motto has always been: "if it doesn't work, implement anyway (it can always be fixed in production - then it is someone else's problem)." I have never understood why a company of this size has so many TTS issues ( could be the ones working on stuff don't know the business; and when the business explains, they can't o anything about it because it is out of scope, and it could be cost optimization - after watching this 29 years, it's getting old.
@EL9kkcM-ipo is right on. Getting rid of low and non performers is next to impossible because of HR. Even if it's well documented and persistent. In fact removing poor performers is pretty much not even an option mangers consider because of how ridiculous HR makes it. If target is serious about turning the company around they'll need to deal with the damaging HR policies and processes accordingly.
Set the bar low and you'll never disappoint yourself. That is the motto.
Yeah, funny that I didn't hear anything about Amazon or Walmart having any issues. I guess their expectations were a cut above Target.
According to MM and JG TTS did everything asked for in terms of site capabilities. I guess they forgot to ask the guest what the expectations were. Oh well, let's say it was a huge success.

I don't think Target can afford to lose sales to incompetence any longer. Amazon and Walmart are upping their game. Target's increase in digital sales, however big to them, is dwarfed by Amazon and Walmart volume. Time to get rid of problem team members and replace them with competent employees.

No company shows the negative results, but internally solid ones' hold their people accountable. Even a quiet release of employment is a sign that management is serious about positive change. In Target terms, however, there is limited accountability due to HR constraints that have existed for too long so the lackluster performers continue to drive the company to mediocrity. As a former Target-eer I have heard from quite a few people that tried to take advantage of the Cyber Monday deals but couldn't. While the Mpls Bullseye puts a positive spin on things, these now former Guests have moved their spending to the competition, continuing the pain for the company.
No ill will meant to anyone still back at Target. As a retailer they'll continue to move forward, but as an employer of choice I think it goes without saying they have fallen to the bottom of the list. Hopefully BC/JM finally make some "transformations" in HR to get things back on track!
