Any predictions of when layoffs start?

Take an educated guess giving reasons.

Nope, I am following my ethics. I mean, I believe the previous poster when he says all companies are like this, Boeing just got caught. However, I can continue to work for Boeing and continue to help to make money for the board, which is defacto consent to their behavior, or I can go work for someone else (in another industry)

It's your soul. Even though I know none of my union brothers and sisters were not responsible for the disasters, I can't work for a company that has demonstrated it puts profits above lives.

As for the previous poster. Boeing has not kept people employed for the past 10 months because it cares about us. It has kept us employed because they can't replace us. The good news is there are very few of me that there are very few like me with a sense of integrity who are willing to pack it up and leave. There are more like you who "rent" their soul to the devil and won't leave no matter how many die.

If you can sleep at night, so can i.

You’re Running Away, what does that say?
The few of us who are left will be the right hand of god, repaying a debt.
The system is broken; we will take care of our own.
Run along home boy, the work that is left is for men of good character.

And you work for them, what does that say?

Either you are not able to get another job in a flaming hot economy or
You have no issue with what the Boeing board has done.

Either put up or shut up. I did, I'm out in 9 more business days.

Viciousness and Venom; This is So True.
It’s hard for any of us to imagine the callousness and savagery of anyone who
Would use a risk to reward mathematical calculation weighing dollars signs
Against human lives.
It is therefore unfathomable that an entire group of individuals acting as
Stewards of what was once the global leader in aviation engineering and safety
Turn that enterprise in to a third world butcher shop.
Now that’s Viciousness and Venomous; That’s the Boeing Board of Directors.

April First would be perfect.

Because that is April Fools Day. Perfect for all the fools that have been predicting layoffs for almost 12 months by that date.

There is zero gratitude I see here for the 10 months of pay that Boeing employees have enjoyed for 10 months. The food, the rent, the house payments.

Most companies would have shut down production and started layoffs immediately after the grounding. Boeing did not. I too was expecting layoffs every week based on past experience. Most companies (including Boeing) are all talk when they say "layoffs are a LAST resort". At this point, I believe them. They have done EVERYTHING they can to avoid layoffs.

I'm not stupid, I still think they are going to happen, sooner than later with a new CEO. But looking though the past year on this site alone, I see prediction after prediction that has not come true. Viciousness and Venom, and yet, they have all been wrong.

I hope you all have been smart with that extra 10 months of pay you have been afforded.

I wish you all well, my.last day is in 2 weeks, leaving for Texas.

April First is the appropriate date for the Nay Sayers. The Layoffs will also
Coincide with the beginning of the real-estate buy / sell season, Boeing personal
Will Sell to move on, not because of Washington State but because Boeing has
Left such a foul taste in their mouth it has poisoned any chance of happiness here
They will hit the road looking for opportunity and happiness elsewhere.
On the road again back to where we been
On the road again Back to being a Oregonian Back to being a Californian
On the road again back to where we been
On the road again Back to being a Texan Back to being a Floridian
Leaven being a Washingtonian behind
Washing off the mold shaking out the moss
On the road again back to where we been
Back to Colorado for some sweet Rocky Mountain high
Trading in my wet for some sweet blue sky
On the road again back to where we been
On the road again leaving that Boeing Blue Promised Land behind…
On the road again back to where we been…
Happy trails to you until we meet again…

Read the sub text; get a feel for who the poster is
The HR post said it best
{Stop the lies no warns YET but probably they will announce cuts}
@1rrm
When the line does start back up it will be Slow 10 to 15 per month

Expect deep cuts further worsened as many board members near
Boeing’s mandatory retirement age. They will continue treating Boeing
as their own personal piggy bank and not as Stewards of Boeing.

They will grant each other bonuses and pay raises, along extravert trips.

I'd bet on Feb 28

35k is the BS number that one particular person has been pushing.

I'm not saying there may not be multiple rounds, but what we know now is 20k, 15 in WA St.

Why is the stock so high, Boeing is at a 30 year low?
We are losing customers faster than we can find customers.
We are upside-down by a whopping 24 billion, with debt growing at two
Billion more a month and people are worried about layoffs?
People need to be worried about finding another job after the Boeing collapse.
The only thing that’s going up will be the homeless population

My guess is senior non union folks and possibly some middle management outside the factories will get affected. Talking skills are much easier to outsource than plane building skills..

That's awfully myopic of you to assume it's all about the union.

It includes Union machinists and engineers, yes, but also includes management and other non-union personnel.

Yes it would be half the union, if it were all union.

Can't tell you where I got the info (the person would probably be fired if it got out), let's just say they are "in the know" and NOT in management.

20k people, not all from Washington. Only 15k from Washington. Date of WARN, Jan 17th.

May luck be on your side.

"Town Hall meetings this week we will know the details? "

I'm sorry to say Holden Strong president to the 751 does not know anything,
He found out that Renton was shut down from the media the company never called him.

The only way to know for sure about layoffs is to look at the vendors if you know them such as Spirit with the 2800 plus VLO's.

Once you see the Puget sound area vendors layoff then Boeing will be next.
Also for those that never experienced a layoff you will receive a 60 day WARN, this does not mean your getting laid off!!!! so don't go jumping from cat walks like one guy did a few years ago.

Bloomberg Intelligence analyst George Ferguson says Boeing has to find
A way to ditch the arrogance.
It’s hurt their relations with the FAA, customers and suppliers. {No S.}

Then there’s the challenge of revitalizing a demoralized workforce. {No S.}
(Bad Attitude Starts At The Top.) Management does not lead by example
Management is incapable of Leading by Example, due to their Arrogance.
The same holds true of Union Management. { Do as I say not as I Do }

  • Calhoun’s task is daunting:

(It could take months before the Max is back in service), and more than a
Year after that, for the company to nurse its suppliers back to health and
Return the 737 to pre-crash production levels.

Max Debacle Cost 6,000,000,000 (Boeing’s Low Ball estimate) Press Release.
Profit per Max 2,900,000 (Spit Balling Research)
6,000,000,000 / 2,900,000 = 2,068 Max aircraft sales needed to break even.
At a production rate of 42 per mouth that’s 49 mouths to be Back in the Black
4 Years of work and 40 years of reputation flushed due to the Arrogance of
Highly Incompetent Management
