From the article.....airplanes-and-accounting-games
"Boeing’s accounting is not about presenting an accurate presentation of losses and profits, but about hiding risk."
So the logical conclusion is what else are they hiding?????

Blackstone is one of the more important private equity firms, and private
Equity is a vector for financializing corporations. Boeing has not one but two
Blackstone people on its board, including the new Chairman of the corporation,
David Calhoun, who was placed there to put a check on Muilenburg.
As a veteran of General Electric and Caterpillar, Calhoun is experienced
in dealing with corporate crises.

Down $20 Billion, Boeing Stuffs Pension Fund With Its Own Shares.
Thank You for this information;
I do see, we all have to pay close attention to the accounting language.
(Transferred $3.5 billion of its own shares) Share Value
The Head Line is click batish {Down $20 Billion} whats Down?
Reading the "News" these days is an art form, would you agree ?
Boeing transferred 14.4 million shares to its pension on Aug. 1 ( # of Shares)
- M Shares = 4,752,000,000, based on Stock Value today 12/19/19
but the 2.4% advance is still more than the S&P 500.
(The plan has the option to dispose of the shares at any time.)
Good work @1zmk
As you notice I said RUMOR... not fact.. as to entice others to help fact check this claim. In fact it was 20 billion, not 9 billion.
https://www.industryweek.com/talent/labor-employment-policy/article/22024188/down-20-billion-boeing-stuffs-pension-fund-with-its-own-shares
Sticking my tongue out at the skeptics.
{Pension}{Rumor is they funded 9 billion with Boeing stock}
This Rumor “May” not hold up. Because the shares outstanding are only .569B
Boeing shares outstanding for the quarter ending September 30, 2019
Were 0.569 Billion, a 2% decline year-over-year.
(Someone should check the Pension distribution and let us know the facts)

Aircraft production down 24% globally after Boeing 737 Max crashes
How many jobs Globally depend on the Boeing 737?
Great post zlo. By the time Boeing can recover from this crisis, China and Russia will be selling planes to the developing world.

This is a much larger problem than is being addressed... It goes back to the M.D. / Boeing merger. Boeing is headed the way of M.D. and surprise all of there top management came to Boeing. Now here we are 20+ years later and looking more and more like the pre - merger M.D. every day. This started with Stonecipher and is now bearing its eternal fruit like a bad case of black mold that evades your home. By the time you understand what's going on the problem is so big it may be too late. Layoffs will come and things will be bad for some time. Profits will be way down for at least 5 years and maybe longer, plus the impact to the slower delivery rate for the foreseeable future will generate less revenue. I wouldn't be surprised to see a huge consolidation or even Chap 11 like someone mentioned. Oh and to that note.. contracts become null and void. I just hope my pension what little there is will still be there. (Rumor is they funded 9 billion with boeing stock.. and if that takes a hit.. buckle up.. gonna be a rough ride).
Ref. @12zRpBk9-rxb - Regarding FAA are playing with our jobs is B.S.
I agree with you 100%, but what is the FAA to do with all of the worlds regulators
No longer having any confidence in the FAA other than being Boeing Cheerleaders
Remember the FAA was last to ground the Max while the whole world said NO.
At this time the FAA had risk assessments on the Max a month after Lion Air flight
610 That stated without action the Max would fall from the Sky one crash every
Three Years - During the life of the MAX’s worldwide fleet.
While MIT Sloan School statistics professor Barnett clams this alarming FAA
{Accident} forecast was vastly Understating the MAX’s risk.
The MAX is a whopping 20 times greater of a risk than for all flights globally.
The FAA made this risk estimate {That was Low by a Factor of At Least 24.}
If this was 1967 the Max would still be flying due to No Internet just News
Reporters, repeating what they were told.
Also in 1967 engineers ran Boeing this deliberate disregard did not exist.
In this modern era in front of Congress with C-span for all the world to see
and hear Live; everyone around the word saw Four words come together,
That should Never Be: Flagrantly and Overtly Criminal Behavior by Boeing
And the FAA, with a distinct indifference toward human life.
Congress was shocked; they had to be; they were live on TV for the world to see
These people and I use that word loosely, are so drunk with power and wealth
They don’t know what decade we are living in, They Are That Disconnected.
So separated from the citizens of the world that they feel entitled and enabled
enough to k-ill anyone or everyone, just so long as it finances their life style.
In our government our corporations and banking institutions we are dealing
with pure evil, anything and anyone is fodder for acquiring material wealth.
Welcome to the New World Order, they all Fear the information age.
The Statement Below were detailed in a Post {That was Deleted},
Because the truth is terrifying. There were many more facts in that post.
“If Boeing seeks Chapter 11 protection {all contracts} are Null & Void”
