Anthem is at it again and gave at least 100 Associates their walking papers with Nov. 1 as their last day of employment. Just not sure if this round of layoff is isolated within IT only or spread out across different departments. All I know is that most if not all of the associates affected are being replaced by the good people from Legato. Way to go Anthem, this would really boost morale within the company !

The big stock uptick mentioned earlier was due to solid 3rd quarter earnings announcements for several companies. The entire market was up, including healthcare because UNH announced their earnings and raised their yearly outlook. I don't think it had anything at all to do with layoffs... this time.
We'll have to see what Anthem earnings are like next week. Look for more records set even as they cry poverty and continue with ludicrous, not well thought out cuts and layoffs.
Interesting that today the stock suddenly had a big uptick, wonder if that’s a sign of more layoffs coming
And contractors being hired every month and every quarter for full-time roles
I'm surprised to hear anyone say they doubt the layoffs happened. Actual memos went out from Laureen and Tim to all CAO staff listing some of the higher level folks. My boss (not IT) was let go, the project initiation team was cut from 11 people to 4 - I read the e-mail myself from the leader of that team. These events are not particularly secretive. Checking with four people you know in IT and concluding nothing happened because they didn't know about it doesn't make sense.
By the way, HCM is Healthcare Management...another division that has been hit hard in the past year.
To the person who is doubting if there were any rifs last week you need to open your eyes and ears or you are part of this so called leadership. I know over 15 people who got let go in my unit in G&A across multiple states. They were all threatened to not speak about it while they wait for their last day on Nov 1. The irony now is that people are now waiting for the next round and have stopped caring about their work because ultimately it won’t matter. Everyone stop doing what this leadership team is asking us to do because their is no future here no growth just lies and broken promises. They are treating everyone like they are just a dumb body in a seat selling you automation and AI that’s going to help you so your job better while buying time to let you go down the road.
To the person that said they’re not sure the mass layoff even happened; believe me it happened! 34 years and I got laid off last thurs; not just IT. Just because most people don’t know about it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen! Anthem wants it that way
I contacted 4 associates that I know that work in IT and none of them know about any layoffs. These are IT associates that work in the Woodland Hills, CA office. So I am not sure if these "mass" layoffs last week even happened.
Whats HCM please?
10/10 HCM Got hit today. No details on roles or how many. Will update if any news comes in.
Heartfelt regards to those dealing with this difficult news.
The simple fact of the layoffs is greed has taken the place of fairness and morals. It’s d–g companies pricing pills that are marked up 2000%. It’s insurance companies with financial agreements between doctors and hospitals to control reimbursement and it’s corporations charging for goods and services because they can. Profit drives things and decisions are made by weak minded individuals who don’t care to do the right thing for others.
I was just laud off Thursday G&A department las vegas office. Absolutely no warning. 1 month of Severance. Total of 10 people.
I am truly sorry to hear that @11l0Gihq-3ffp. You need to know it’s not your fault. You are simply the wrong nationality. The leadership of IT,Business and everyone else shall be heading in a singular direction.
34 years, not in IT, in CA, Always good performance, then robotic words, “ your job has been eliminated, goodbye”,
I totally agree with @11l0Gihq-2nhk about Legato being a total disaster !!!! Case in point, we are supposed to be done with our October Release this last Friday but somebody, and we are guessing from Legato missed some Certificates that had expired and caused major delays in testing. Now everyone is forced to work the weekend just to complete testing. I have worked in Anthem for more than 2 decades now and this is the first time we missed our deadline for Release Testing. What changed you asked .... LEGATO !!!!!
This is Accurate for IT.All leaders in Ashok C’s organization have been sent a grid, that will force this Transition to Legato. Anthem leadership plan is to remove all contracting resources. Any open positions will be given to Legato. Leaders must justify “why”, if they want an American in the role.
Legato is a disaster. They don’t work as hard as vendor resources or Anthem, communication is terrible, and the offshore leaders are very weak.
Anthem’s major plan is to replace all American Associates from IT with low paying associates from Legato who have H1B work visas. Win win situation for Anthem since not only do they save money by eliminating high paying IT positions held by American associates with low paying resources from Legato and at the same time they also benefit since Legato is basically owned by Anthem. One loop hole Anthem found that sadly is detrimental for American workers like myself who have put it in years of blood and sweat into this company just to be tossed out for budget purposes.
Yes they are laying off American workers in the Atlanta office as well. The majority of employees in the Atlanta office are outsourced from India. American FTE are the minority in Anthem.
Anybody know what area was hit hardest? They are buildin a huge technology center in Atlanta.... wondering if Legato will be replacing current Anthem employees there? All H1B?
Not sure about Virginia or Georgia offices, but most of the associates I know that were let go were all from CA and all are from IT Department which is being aggressively taken over by Legato which is the contracting agency built by Anthem.
Which Anthem office? Virginia or Georgia ?
its not just IT—there are more posts on this site about RIF (reduction in force)–keep looking on this site
I’m sorry to hear this. I got let go in June. It s—s being unemployed when you know you were doing a good job for Anthem. Hope Anthem leadership gets the karma they deserve.
