The company has blundered, true. But recent events are an opportunity, too.
The good: enormous IP assets, a good portfolio, probably a bit too much debt on the balance sheets, a still loyal workforce (against better interest, if you believe this website).
The bad: an irrational cloud focus, a very heavyhanded license enforcing group, a disregard for our existing customers and no way to defend it all.
Internally the result is cynicism and an almost communist disconnect between corporate messaging and the reality on the ground. Externally our customers hate Oracle sales and licensing with a vengeance.
Now there's opportunity here, too. Embrace the existing customer, embrace the employees, crossfertilise the current portfolio. Add a sprinkling of honesty on licensing, dump some purchases, clean up the balance sheet. And most of all: forget about promoting the cloud as some magic mushroom.
So if you are hunting for a new job, CEO to be: that's the recipe. It fits on a coffeemug. Do everybody on this forum and all Oracle customers a favour. This could be your finest hour.
