Life IS so much better after Oracle. Come look at other companies that are actually successful in the cloud and have better morale, employee satisfaction and products that actually work and are sold without a mafia style approach.

Does anyone know what happens with the H1B Visa? 60 days of grace period?

Depends if you are covered under WARN. If not, then my understanding is that you have 60 days to find another job. Probably not too hard in you're in Silicon Valley, but could be challenging if you're in BRM. As for NetApp hiring people in Colorado:

Oops, regarding the post below - this statement is the one that is incorrect. I don't know why it didn't show up in my original post:
Pillar SAN was never used in any Cloud.

Sorry pal, not trying to start an argument because really, who cares - but that statement is totally 100% incorrect. I am a tech in an Oracle cloud data center.

What are you smoking ? ZFSSA 7x20 was released in November 2010, Pillar was bought in July 2011. All current ZFSSA not only have same design but also run pretty much same AK as that 7x20 boxes.

Pillar SAN was never used in any Cloud.

This is what would happen to all cash cows when milk is about to run dry. Folks, know when you are in the department categorized as cash cows, and know when your department becomes a cash cow even if it’s currently not one. Cash cow is exactly the words LE used to describe his past acquisitions.

ZFS & Solaris has their latest deep cut back in March, since they’re in a different part of the org chart than Pillar was.

@10yXh9Wn-1kjz fact check list

8 years ago: Oracle acquired Pillar. ZFSSA heavily support Oracle IT infra. LE laughed at cloud.
3 years ago: Pillar became 1st flash supplier of Oracle cloud. Pillar beat ZFSSA on flash performance. ZFSSA had a new distributed design.
2 years ago: ZFSSA historical layoff 1st round
1 year ago: ZFSSA historical layoff 2nd round
today: Pillar gone, ZFSSA died due to lack of resources

Is ZFS still around? Were they impacted? Still a customer of it, so I’m concerned.

My understanding is that ZFSSA and Pillar were two separate beasts. And unlike Pillar, external customers actually buy ZFSSA.

@1uwt the entire group was axed, not 80... they kept about 10 people and they will be gone soon. so at best, it's a 93% cut...

Sad! Really Sad. Unfortunately, one more layoff handled in a worst way possible. Lack of leadership and horrible high-level management.

Normal severance is 4 weeks for your first year of service + 1 week per year after that with a max of 26 weeks. But I don't know anything about how they're handling this particular layoff.

I don't receive the FedEx packet till tomorrow. Does anyone know how much Oracle severance is in a case like this?

Thanks!

Oracle is abandon their customer to go on prem and hardware development and test.
They want all of their customer to go cloud. The sad fact is Oracle is too late in the game for cloud stuff and their angry customer is looking for alternate, I see it an opportunities for their competitor, I will not be surprise their stock price drop to 11 dollars again in the coming years

Sorry for all who were impacted, I hope you guys find a better place to work soon, and don’t stress out and be anxious (which is in our nature) the job market still great. Btw 8 month ago there was this thread (see below) regarding office space in broomsfield to be sold In Q2 field, that was warning. That why this website is great, and that how I saw the wave of layoffs coming and it sometimes start overseas which is harder to track. Be vigilant start talking to pm, sales, look at this site. It will usually give you a sign. What you see in the stock market for Oracle is a numbers game we all know that. This year should be the year you really think where or what you want to do. If you are monitoring the market, a recession is due and it’sh–ting over seas countries which soon will come to our shores, and once it does companies who are struggling like Oracle will get hit before others, then it is harder when everyone is getting impacted.
