Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Wtf is going on?

I have the opportunity to join DXC in a sales role. I read Glassdoor and dismissed it all, as many people write poor reviews when they leave. I then found this site. From what I have read, lots of redundancies, poor management and steak knives! Is it really that bad? They are talking about a significant increase in salary. The manager I spoke to said it was a great time to join as the company is set to grow massively due to its focus on digital. I am at a small software services company and this would be a great move for me. I have always wanted to work at a large corporate on big accounts.

@OP
A lot of it depends on which entity you're joining. If in the US - you're relatively safe if joining an L-CSC entity as L-ES is getting utterly gutted.
If EMEA it's the other way round, with anything even resembling L-CSC getting nuked from orbit. Overall Sales is also one of the safest bets as the most drastic cost measures are being taken with Deliver and Build.

For instance the AMER structure was completely obliterated for Deliver recently and is being rebuild from the ground up based on industry.

Overall the Silo around sales is pretty strong, with the majority of Bionix or the need to deliver innovations just not being there.

But you're going to be interacting with a completely demoralised deliver, where most people are contractors by now and even those are usually delivering the work of 1.5 FTEs.

Sorry @10yOYCIL-1uli but I came from HPE and based on my experience for every 10 sales people, 1 was competent, 4 were clueless and 5 should have been fired for unprofessional behaviour.

Thankfully for the majority of time I haven't depended upon a sales person to sell anything for my job, the rare occasion sales people got involved they never won a single piece of work.

So I say again, the majority of us think that sales people are a waste of oxygen.

@10yOYCIL-1uli you got to be kidding. Maybe the HPE sales people are better than L-CSC , but your technical people are the worst I even seen in my 45 years in IT

I decided against joining. I did a bit more research and spoke to someone who left from a similar role. It sounds bad.

Not everyone’s opinion. Without salespeople you wouldn’t have a job. The problem is that you work at DXC and the majority of the salespeople are sh–. The only good ones are the ones from HPE. The CSC crowd were mo–ns before the merger and are even worse now

Sorry to break to you but that's everyone's in non-sales roles opinion of sales.

Old CSC tactic: hire people with a good salary bump, then never give them any raises or bonuses.

It is a good time to join Sales. You can lie, overpromise to customers and then not worry about delivery as you are one of the few in the company to get a bonus because of the new business you bamboozle into signing up for a contract they will cancel within a year. ML will mention your work in the quarterly call as a new market segment that DXC is growing in. Come on over, just make sure you leave your morals and soul at the door.

if you need a neutral picture then you can check the stock price chart of this company.
the chart never lies.

revenue shrinking
headcount shrinking
earnings shrinking
clients shrinking

1upq if Lawrie actually defined digital, he wouldn't be able to lie about its growth so effectively. Would be a real problem if his claims were ever actually auditable.

"focus on digital." what a crock of c-ap. ALL COMPUTERS are digital, and DXC can't even say what Digital actually means. Don't come its a sinking ship

You will regret joining within days of doing so, when you can’t travel anywhere and your so called customers don’t want to meet you and the Skype fails on every internal call. Sales Management is as poor as it gets. Incompetent, nasty, ineffective. Bunch of id–ts. No clue.

@1gws... Interesting you say that. From my personal experience at DXC (came in via UXC Eclipse, saw the Tribridge acquisition and the subsequent takeover by Tribridge, saw eBECS come in, saw Mike Gillis promise the world then not have the backbone to tell people he couldn't deliver, then moved on to greener pastures), every negative comment here is spot on the money. Of course there are people with axes to grind and the occasional comment that defies belief, but in general everything here is correct. But please, tell us your experience with DXC. If you can balance the story then please do.

Yes, it's every bit as bad as everyone says. Worst career move I ever made. I can promise you, if you accept the job you will regret it, and probably very quickly.

Look at the stock, and read the earnings call transcripts for the last year or so.

IGnore 10yOYCIL-1gws & @10yOYCIL-xze they are possible lackies to put positive spin on Glassdoor, to counter punch the negative press on here and also starting on UK register - nothing can save this company apart from reorganization from the top down, rebranding and selling + splitting up the company.

Take a balance view and read carefully the reviews on Indeed, glassdoor, UK register and this site before deciding on whether DXC is worth a try or not.

  • unfortunatly I will want to stay anonymous but you need to know that all the people say here is the full truth. It is that bad that (my assumption) some senior managers are even engaging here. Trying to say this is all the disapointed leavers of DXC telling lies to the world.

Not one post I have seen is not true. I was with HP/HPE/ DXC for over 20years and what this so called management team has done to the company is frightening.
Just pink some of the real seniors that have left from DXC. Many of them are good people and would probably give you good insights. No one should dare to say that these former leaders would lie to anyone ... and as all of the real leaders have already left DXC you will find plenty contacts to ask!

It's a risk to join DXC for sure, but it depends whether you view it as a 6 month to 1 year stepping stone career move. You won't be able to sell anything as potential customers know DXC cannot deliver. You need to be careful of promises made by hiring managers as they have no authority whatsoever. As someone has stated, Digital growth is not real....simply rebadged Traditional. DXCs reputation is now creating a downward spiral and your probably better off avoiding.....but maybe that salary increase is just too tempting (PS I recently took VR and very very happy to leave)

Is it Enterprise Cloud Apps? Good luck. It’s not great. I don’t think anyone is having a great time in the sales team. It’s really difficult to get things done internally and the customers don’t like us because we are delivering such poor service. I had an ok job before joining DXC. I joined because of the really high salary as it was a lot more than I was on. They didn’t even check what I used to earn! It’s not turned out how I had hoped. I am going to give it a big longer as there has to be a plan and it has to get better.

If you are being offered a 'sales specialist' role I recommend you ask a LOT of questions about compensation. I worked for 8 years in HP/HPE/DXC and never saw them come up with a workeable solution for cloud, security etc. This company has a significant Account Management structure and it is difficult for specialists to earn as the AM's freeze them out of deals so they can earn the compensation. The answer of course is 'double bubble', but they have never really swallowed that as they want to limit how much compensation they pay.

All you’re going to read on this site is a lot of whining and moaning from people who relish playing the weak victim. Hardly objective, but it can be amusing. Not a great place for an objective viewpoint.

Oh and by the way, of course it’s a great time to join the company. All the good staff have either left or halfway out the door. So many projects are short-staffed. Just avoid.

AVOID!!! This is a toxic company. I came into the company via acquisition; I saw UXC Eclipse quickly destroyed, the best people walk out the door and a toxic mess remain. No pay hikes; however DXC never misses an opportunity to cut your pay somehow. I saw a pay cut every six months. Just don’t do this to yourself.

Are you serious? Just read this site and then compare it to the stock chart over the last month. That should tell you everything. If you take a. Off with DXC you then deserve what you get.

Join, take the salary increase. As soon as you have picked up some new skills, start looking elsewhere. 18 months to 24 months should be the limit - at 18 months make sure you start looking for your next role and another salary increase.

Avoid at all costs - it's not worth your health for the added stress, lack of direction, sales, digital pipeline and the constant WFR

DXC UK is having a particularly challenging time at the moment as you will have seen reading other articles on this site, also suggest you look at The Register a useful online news site that has a lot of stories about DXC, including DXC UK and their plans to lay off 2000+ (25%) of the UK workforce, and the over-subscribed voluntary redundancy programme they have just run in the UK.

I would be joining the UK sales team in a specialist overlay role (is it an offering sales specialist?) working with cloud applications

DXC is certainly not growing, its revenues are down more than 25% in the couple of years its been in existence, and one of the reasons for the recent share price crash is (another) downward sales forecast for the rest of this year (they took another $500M off the sales forecast) so you'd be taking a sales role in a challenging environment. Also, don't buy too much into the "massively growing digital", that's just an internal unaudited re-allocation of existing traditional revenue.
But if you like a challenge and want 12-24 months of working for a large org on the resume/CV then good luck!

I took this job 14 months ago knowing it would never be a career, but the salary was amazing and 100% remote. Now, I am working 2 full-time remote jobs at the same time, and collecting double salaries. DXC is not a career, but it can definitely help you get where you want to be, professionally or financially.

If you are doing okay where you are, you shouldn't leave or look somewhere. DXC overall is very problematic. Digital is essentially garbage at this time and almost as bad as the management. Growth being stated is not real. What growth there is mainly being b–tardized and cooked up. But if offer is so good and you can't refuse, ask for stock options and signing bonus and treat it as at most 1 year step to go somewhere else.
