Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

I really wish I had their confidence

DXC Technology is in the process of transformation from a legacy IT solutions vendor to a digital one.
We think that Management will execute on this strategy and turn DXC into a growth company.

@2gnt Investors look upon DXC very differently to anyone actually working in the organisation. The investors don't care about what's actually happening within the organisation. All they care about is the numbers and potential ROI, which is currently being artificially shored up through cost-cutting.

Seeking Alpha's article is one view, however note the Disclaimer at the bottom of the article - the author is a DXC investor.

This article highlights the problem with SA: absolutely no insight into the company they are commenting on. Glowing words for the corporate BS espoused in the latest DXC report; not a single work about the droves of employees leaving. Sure DXC is backfilling by hiring, but these hires are basically fresh people with little-to-no real world skills.

Imagine if the author really knew what was happening within DXC. He might still very well identify Lawrie as the key man - to get rid of! Imagine someone leading DXC with a commitment to a) stop the bleeding of employees and customers, b) try and lure old employees and customers back, and c) still focus on the how digital transformation bit.

Many of these commentators are sitting on big losses having previously invested in DXC. The value of DXC stock has plummeted in value and they are therefore in an unenviable position. It's not surprising that they are trying desperately to talk up the stock.

The writer is probably trying to talk up the stock price to avoid getting his fund hit following the next Q results .. what load of w*nk ..

"DXC recent history" - 2 clumsy badly managed (id have to say that the HPE wasn't AS badly managed).. fast forward to today following multiple cuts and legacy HPE mgt removal ,.. an "integration" with slashing of portfolio .. to create (the register puts it well) " A Frankenfirm" which is still old fashioned and badly managed yet is happily strangling itself of resources and capability...

Hang on ... Laurie probably wrote the piece himself ...

I worked in Cloud and platform, we were asked to classify our projects.

Datacentre hosting and server management - not digital - bad business

VPC or Azure managed services - Digital - good business - with our ill thought out delivery model (based on the same ITO principles as traditional hosting!)

Never mind that we were behind the market with huge overheads and the 32 % on top of the marginally discounted MS / AWS rates

Digital really is emperors new clothes, following New Style of IT and blah blah blah..

Classic quote at the end of the article

"Any firm going through reconstruction has a key man risk. Transforming a company is difficult and requires capable and dedicated individuals. We find these characteristics in the current leadership of Mr. John Michael Lawrie as CEO and Mr. Paul Saleh as CFO. Either of them leaving could jeopardize the ongoing restructuring."

They really have been drinking the corporate Kool-Aid. Given DXC gets to allocate whats traditional and what is digital revenue DXC can keep this story going for several more quarters even as the total revenue continues its decline. But the transformation to a PwC Lite which is what this article identifies as the strategy and also opportunity for DXC remains a very unlikely outcome.
