Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Have things gone quiet?

I'm not hearing any more chatter of layoffs in the UK past few days.

Anyone have an ear to the ground?

@10bP64ai-2uxw by all means have trust and faith but just learn where its likely to be reciprocated and appreciated.

The thing from the day I first walked into CSC was the people. We had an amazing bunch of people who did amazing things DESPITE all of the years of management oppression and investors who relished in our pain. It never broke our spirits and we helped each other to survive.

Sadly now, today in particular, I'm looking around and those names and faces are gone - or will be today.

This seems like a particularly grim day that I can't see us rallying out the other side of.

I'm 1qfc, thanks 2x1q. I'm sorry, I'm sorry for still believing in my fellow humans. I love the positive aspects of building teams and divisions. I love teaching my teams and getting people to swim in "the deep end", thinking that they are alone, but you really do have their back. Building people’s minds is really hard, it's a "lazy universe" (Oh I do recommend reading the book). I have people I've helped over 15 years ago still saying hello, and thanks for my career path. I don't need approval, for me it's my "legacy affect" as a human. It's only when you realize how much you truly do not know you appreciate knowledge, and the little bit you do know, conveying that in a structure that "normal minds" can absorb is appreciated. I love reading, Claude Shannon, Alan Turing, Norbert Wiener & Leonard Kleinrock they really are my heroes I love reading their papers and books. You mention the parasitic nature of markets, you are probably right. However, I must believe in my fellow humans, to be of a good inherent nature, love family, love nature. Ok, there's a small minority that really don't give a c-ap, pity those people. I love competition, it gives us all drive, optimising processes and getting a good feel factor for your company. It gives you a good buzz. I'm going to do my best for me, my team, my division, my client until I'm "let go". Humility and humanity are so under rated these days. It's doesn't hurt to have a good helping of each. I’ll probably get a load of thumbs down for this, I simply do not know why, perhaps my soul journey is near completing the circle. Ancient knowledge is also fine! Anyhow, I’m ready. SYS 64738.

@ 2iox - we all know there is a fundamental difference between the morals, governance and practice of law between Japan and US. I suspect that when the party is over and various 'investors' are not making a $ - It is then the eyes of regulators will be opened 'blink' like the dragon "Smaug" in a scene from the Hobbit! At this point, *if there is any historical infringements, ML will be strung out like a 'Kipper' and find he has no mates! It is day that maybe keeps the old 'fart' from retirement!

Very interesting to see that Nissan announces it will cut 12,500 jobs as profits plunge 95% after ex-CEO Ghos was arrested - never know could happen to other CEO and management teams.

Seems like no one is above the law and people who do wrong - karma can return and bite them...

@10bP64ai-1qfc you fail to understand the nature of Wall Street.

Don't imagine those people have invested money in any company to see it do well as a business.

They want to see the share price move and at the peak moment, jump off, collect the cash and onto the next one.

The days of a company that grows continually (any company) are gone and they know it. Instead they put money in, let it inflate a bit, sell, take profit and move on to the next one that shows positive movement in the stock market.

The shareholders care about share price, nothing else.

The only time in the last 2 years of DXC that you saw anger was November last year when the leaked disclosure of the USA sales force being m—acred caused a 50% drop in the share price.

That time they were angry - this latest employee cull - they love it.

Now let’s keep it real, the company is being eviscerated. If shareholders knew the true cost of their share price going up and the destruction of the long-term viability of the company they,if not psychopathic in nature, would be in arms. Most of us still here have passion for the company and want our clients to do well, the top brass can't take that away our passion, ok were despondant, but our passion is still there.

@10bP64ai-1hql

I know people who have been in 6 different pools in 7 months.

Each time they get told they are at risk, then safe...

Needless to say they have all put in for VR and strangely been accepted too. They are billable to the client and perform a contractual function.

@10bP64ai-1hql So you're using this temporary reprieve to look for another job and GTFO, right?

This rotting dead carcass of a company has shown you exactly what it thinks of you.

"our roles had been moved from in-scope-at-risk to out-of-scope-no-longer-at-risk"

This happens all the time now. It is done on purpose - to try and get you to leave

Not sure. I've had a speculative VR request denied - but there are rumors of big cuts in GDN

In my largish pool, spanning the whole of the UK, with over 50% slated to go, capability scored me at risk - confirmed at the formal 1st consultation. All the paperwork formally issued etc. then some of us were summoned as a group to be told that the account had overridden capability and that our roles had been moved from in-scope-at-risk to out-of-scope-no-longer-at-risk.

Essentially being told you are not wanted on the one hand but, on the other hand, you are too critical to let go.

Motivational for sure!

I was part of the 8th July UK VR group who had offers back in June
I signed/returned the offer letter and no one has got back to me since to communicate with me that I left on 8th July
I found out with an indirect query to DXC Select that my HR record does indeed show I left on 8th July
Just waiting for the 28th July pay round to see if the financial settlement has been posted then I will be done with DXC (for good)

They are still agreeing Voluntary Redundancies at the moment. It has taken longer to sort out because of the numbers involved.

As far as I know there won't be any more until next quarter now.

I did hear of loads of people on the CR list though who were supposed to hear what was happening to them a week ago but the day came and went and they are just in limbo with nobody saying anything... typical DXC can't even RIF people properly.

Wave of people in my area being done with DXC and moving on. Workers are tired of all of this garbage and finding green grasses.
