Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Symptoms of a layoff?

I want to ask the people that were laid off were there any symptoms that could indicate that they were the ones on the chopping block next. What Could be a sign?

Classic symptom is to tell Account Leaders that they don't demonstrate the actions and behaviours that they preach. My honesty and openness to criticise their double talk internally exposed the lies that they were pertpetuating. My boss exposed similar levels of complicity and we were both placed on the WFR list. The guilty Execs are still at DXC looking for ways to be WFR'd and receive their payout (they are in APAC).

When you are a Executive Assistant and you see a notification in your boss’ email and break the news to him. Such a stupid company Don’t realize that EA’s see and know all.

At this point of you don't work from home, having personal property at the office is just stupid. Heck even at home I back up everything off my DXC laptop daily so I have it when I am RIFF'ed. Nothing is on OneDrive either , so when I go I delete and format my DXC laptop and they get none of my notes , files for the past 10 years

Not necessarily. On my account (U.S.) two of our departments are told when they walk in the door Friday morning. They are given the HR bullsh*t and told to hand in their badge. They are not permitted to go to their desk and retrieve their personal property (it will be mailed to them at some point). Other departments are usually told up to a week ahead of time.

Your boss/manager is seen having one-on-one meetings with your project teams members, and doesnt have one with you. I have been in those meetings often and it is your boss telling you that you need to figure out what your team member is doing because it is soon to be included in your scope of work.

E- Mail from manager Thursday night, setting up a call for Friday. Laid off on Friday and was instructed to turn in computer on Monday. Had millions in the pipeline and had no inkling! DXC is in trouble; almost impossible to get travel approval, cutting expenses wherever and whenever they can!

From 2 of my peers who got the ax, there was a constant message: your manager wants to meet with you. It'd not be strange but only your manager hasn't even talked to you in months. In the US, the request from your boss comes in Wednesday afternoon for a call on Thursday, or even bright-and-early Thursday morning.

Everyone "safe"... haha ... should ask to see their scoring. Give HR and CMs a headache. DPA means they need to share. Something is afoot. Weird scores for those leaving... strangely (?) in my area all over 55.... coincidence??

All those who have gone through the process and "survived" (lucky?!?!) Ask for a copy of your scoring... they are saying you can't see it but under data protection you are entitled to a copy. They are hiding so much sh1t. Let's play them at their own game.

@1fio "Then what do they have?". Simple, IF by then they decide they still need someone in the role they will recruit another cheaper, inexperienced resource.

DXC don't really care about the experience they are losing; it is simply a numbers game - keep cutting the costs to artificially shore up the profit margins to pretend to the Street that it's all going swimmingly.

The second I started training my replacement . Did I train him well or enough ? Who cares ! If DXC wants to replaced seasoned , mature knowledgeable staff with people who can’t figure out the difference in anything that has to be done , then I tip my hat off to all of them and exit smiling . I knew what they were getting and I know what skill sets I have that I’m taking away .

Guess what DXC ... this was your final episode of mismanagement concerning myself .

I give it a year before this kid finds out the true nature on what he signed up for , then he’s gone .
Then what do they have ?

As they say in poker,

“If you've been in the game 30 minutes and you don't know who the patsy is, you're the patsy.”

@1042WdYB-1tmj the only time someone would purchase DXC is if it had contracts worth buying.

At the current rate there is no need to buy, other competitors are gaining DXC contracts as clients run away screaming.

The staff have pretty much zero value to a purchaser, in fact they are a financial liability not an asset.

In the meantime, all expensive employment locations (ie USA, UK and Australia) will be whittled down to as close to zero as they possibly can. Sure offshore/nearshore is not a new thing in CSC/HPE but this time they are going for broke.

@1wvs - Not EVERYONE is going, otherwise there would be no company. I know that many think this is where DXC is headed but what's more likely is continuing falls in revenue, continuing cost cutting in a futile attempt to shore up profit margins and (probably in a couple of years) what remains of DXC being purchased by one of the large Indian outsourcing companies.

If you work for DXC you are next on the chopping block because EVERYONE is going - it's that simple.

If you work on a leveraged team you'll likely be WRF'd. For example, if you are part of a database admin team supporting all sorts of clients and internal systems you will be laid off.

If you are a senior employee, you will be laid off.

If your are old, you will be laid off.

Lastly, if you are breathing, you will be laid off.

Had to laugh at Reply No 5 below, every single one of those items applies to me in the past few weeks except the first one (requirement to be in the office), but that's a general requirement these days anyway - which we're all ignoring around where I'm based

I'll let you know when (if) the WFR/RIF happens ...

Manager suddenly needs a list of projects and deadlines
Reallocation to different cost center
Reallocation to different job coding
Disruption of expense reimburse or payments to Amex (check with AMEX directly)
Cancelled series meetings, check if others are still attending said “cancelled” meetings
Quirky email “hiccups”. (I.e. unreceived email, strange replies, etc)
Requirements to be in an office

Just a few

Some of your team/function get replaced with offshore/sh–shore... and then the rest follow.

Or, nobody in your area got RIF'ed this time - meaning next time its you.

Basically anyone in USA, UK or Australia is going to be replaced by others in Costa Rica, Bulgaria and Malaysia, respectively.

Sadly, I'm not sh1tting you either.

  • You never get a pay rise
  • You don't get training
  • When there is nice interesting work, someone else gets it first
  • A favoured worker most of the WBS and then come delivery time, you're tasked to sort it out when the favoured f*cker goes on his "planned holiday" just before go-live (convenient eh?)

But the biggest symptom is this - you work at DXC !!!

I was with HPE then but..... I was suddenly asked to make sure I had all of my stuff documented, and to handover one task I had been working on to someone else. I was oblivious to it back then, but now thinking back, those were the clues that should have told me. I was able to avoid the WFR from that silo'd account and transferred into a role in the greater HPE until I was able to leave on my own terms.
