Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

MW is Un-American

With the announcement of ENGINE maybe the media needs to get involved with the Un-American leadership we have.

IT benchmarking is horseh!t. Anyone that has ever been in the center and done it knows we are basically making sh-t up in the end and guessing just to get that bullish!t complete. A number here, a number there, it doesn’t matter.

We are not benchmarking poorly - Q1 and Q2 in most categories for IT. We do, however, have the absolute worst management - feckless, sloppy, and short sighted. We’re losing because of MW’s LT, plain and simple. Yet the board has no courage to excise the actual issues within the corporation.

It’s interesting that they chose to brand the word ENGINE for this initiative which sounds similar to INJUN which is in turn a derogatory term for INDIAN. Probably unconscious but revealing nonetheless.

I say we pivot and use our knowledge and connections to fight back. Lots of smaller operators that would love to kick the sh*t out of Chevron.

@fpu+ - this isn't free market capitalism. Governments, in partnership with giant private investment firms, are forcing O&G energy companies to dump money into otherwise unprofitable green energy ventures so that they can continue to access capital from said investment firms and maintain a license to operate from said governments.

If free markets were at play, cost of doing business would be lower and we'd be able to keep jobs domestically. HQ would also probably still be in San Ramon.

If you work for Chevron you’d have received the email from MN regarding the ENGINE today. Essentially - offshoring jobs to India.

People bi--h about socialism, but this is the result of free market capitalism. If they’ve paid McKinsey millions to say they can get the same labor for a fifth of the cost, then there’s nothing we can do to stop them. Enjoy six months turnover with your ENGINE and hope you have a chair when the music stops.

People are not interchangeable. This company was built to become the Standard in the industry by a specific caliber of men. You cannot change out Americans for third-worlders who have public service announcements to not shït in the street and who have to check if politicians have working toilets. This will be the end of Chevron as a prestigious company.

Please define your version of fairy tale American! FRom every level this is true American and Capitalism mind set. American way of thinking is only self centered, materialistic, and ignorant of"others" if the "others" do not fit "my"/"mine" interests.

No its about being like every other corporation - DO NOT TRAIN your replacement. Haven't you ever experienced a chat or call with someone over seas - they can't answer your question only read from a manual

@zzu, if only it were that easy. Completely agree with your sentiment, but the PM goals for those getting outsourced will be heavy on “grow capabilities” and “build relationships”, and anyone that doesn’t play along will be out the door earlier than scheduled.

If you think the replacements won’t rat you out for not transferring knowledge to them, then you have never worked in countries where nepotism is valued and taking care of others that are the same race / religion as you is your duty. There will be no sympathy for a Westerner clinging to their job.

From ENGINE “FAQs” page

transition will take 6-9 months to ensure successful knowledge transfer

DO NOT TRAIN YOUR REPLACEMENTS!

Are you really behaving per your "definition" of American? please take a look at the tags of everything you are wearing and gadgets you use. Most are not made here. Also, there are locally made options, in many cases more expensive.
American may also equate to being financially smart, capitalism, and wining to our competition.
I am sure you love it when the products you consume come at a lower price, or when the companies you invest in find ways to reduce cost and increase in price. However, when this touches your instead of others, you start to complain.
