Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Who should Avaya rehire?

Doesn't have to be names, can be roles. Not that many people would come back, just wondering where you guys think the biggest mistakes were made..

It's all of the above
++ Power trip
++ Control
++ Ignorance
++ False belief of authority
++ Stupidity

ML is a repeat failure for a reason. Always in theory. Always TBD. Never realized. Always a trail of destruction surrounded by BFFs hired.

Not sure it's about Nidal being Arab. It's more likely because he's not American because we all know how well the Americans have run the company, not.

There was no “angry power trip” that pushed Nidal out. Let’s call a spade a spade: ML, ST & AO plotted the dismantling of Nidal and his leadership simply because he’s arab. The bitterness to anything Dubai-related was simply racially motivated jealousy and resentment to the recognition customers, partners and analysts showered on his leadership style. Had she (and the board) listened to him, who knows, maybe things wouldn’t have taken this sudden downtown.

"Rehire". Apparently you haven't been paying attention.

No employee "tactics" can change the trajectory. Granted, the tactical employees kept things "moving" but getting by each day was not the objective. Avaya needed to be acquired or morphed into something meaningful. It wasn't.

Good Employees DOES NOT EQUAL success. Good, Validated, Real (not propaganda) Strategy = Success. Avaya lacked strategy. Yet those who had STRATEGY roles got big payouts for their failure. ST is a perfect example.

Post ID: @zyk+1vVtXkSt May have been harsh, but it doesnt mean it is wrong. You voting down that person just proves that person to be 100% accurate.

Also, Nidal did keep revenue afloat. Few people understand how remarkable Nidal was for Avaya. China owns the middle east in just about all Tech. Cisco, Oracle, you name it. They can't crack it. But Avaya WAS seen as some amazing organization that Cisco and Oracle envied in the middle east simply because of Nidal's brillance, tenacity and the connections he built. Big name companies were envious and we allowed an angry power trip person push him out.

Agree it is the wrong question and proves that Avaya just hired minions who followed blindly and believed the BS for way too long.

Yet to answer the question, single handedly NIDAL. That man is who invented ways to print money for Avaya whenever necessary. That man single handedly kept Avaya afloat by finding revenue in a split second.

None of you want to accept the truth. But since you asked, this is the most fact backed truth. ML sealed her fate by targeting Nidal. period. the bottom fell out and nothing more came in.

Couldn't agree more with previous comment on post.
Who doesn't matter.
No matter how hard someone worked. Avaya was placed onto a sink hole. The objective was to give them enough time to move it under another organization before the hope opened up. They have survived on miracles of luck. Not talent.

Luck = slow to rip & replace verticals like Government & Healthcare. Period. Not by anything else. All else is fluff.

WRONG. FRICKING. QUESTION. People, why do you not get it?????

Avaya has been Lipstick on a Pig for over 10 years and you still want to discuss the Lipstick??? The shade of the Lipstick doesn't change that is going on a pig. Discussing WHO is essentially just asking for a different shade.

All of these amazing people who worked extra hours and "bled Avaya red" (as opposed to blood red, what a ridiculus statement) meant NOTHING to the success or failure.

Avaya was NEVER anything but vapor living off the legacy of Bell Labs and Lucent. And they ran out of the source that enabled vapor production over time. This was always going to be the reality. Period. The HOW is what everyone is agry with.

WHO -- People (wrong question)
WHAT-- Avaya was a shell of solutions left over from amazing companies plus they inherited the BS spin game of Nortel people
HOW -- AVAYA was ONLY EVER in the HOW GAME. HOW will they journey toward the next generation? The HOW is the acquistion potential. The 'WHO' messed up the opportunity for the "HOW'. And now we know the HOW is evaporation.

@yuu+1vVtXkSt okay but that's not what OP asked.

I don't know much about the other areas of the business but I think it was crazy to get rid of EW even though there might only be one more Engage.

How about BP? DevConnect is a critical part of our ecosystem.

You mean "biggest mistake", not plural. Alan Masarek. Misled customers and employees, cashed in on his lies, destroyed thousands of careers, and still talks as if he's saved Avaya. All this without an inch of skin in the game. Biggest con since Bernie Madoff.
