Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Stock crashing

Stock price hit a low of $17.01 today.

People will claim tariffs cause the drop, but the underlying reason is no one wants to hang on to the tu-d when the going gets tough.

Flight to quality and this ain't it.

Watch more layoffs coming for those who won't relocate for RTO so the company can increase the stock buy back budget.

If I don't get a bonus next year, I'm just going to stop trying hard until I get laid off.

Mattel removed forward guidance blaming tariffs and economic volatility. That is also code for no or reduced bonus next year. You can't meet a bonus target that doesn't exist or has its goalposts moved mid-year.

Ynon sent a message to call talking about the amazing results for the quarter. Meanwhile, in after hours trading, the stock is down 3%.

I can't wait to get a layoff package. Do you think I'll get it this month or will I have to keep waiting?

That's the word on the street. More layoffs if the stock drops. And if shipping doesn't go back to full swing. Retailers are on hold. If this keeps up there's no Christmas and this will be worse case scenario.

You all know who to thank for it.

More layoffs planned if market cap drops below $4 billion market cap and doesn't bounce back.

That is around $12.37 share price.

Question is whether the company will continue the stock buybacks at $14.00 and $13.00 to defend the stock, or let it fall. Also beware the activist investor.

Buckle up or get out while I still can?

Even as a liberal all this virtue signaling from Mattel was super cringey and just weird.
It's all good to promote it but ge-z it's just toys you know. Give me a break.
This is why I can't live in San Francisco. Everyone is offended by everything.

DEI will save Mattel. While every other company is running away from this distraction, Mattel goes all in.
No wonder why the company is failing. Feel bad for everyone left trying to make it work

@zy+1jqy8r3rd I have never ever heard one single time that Mattel even considered to have the slightest interest in even DREAMING about bringing manufacturing back to the US. Can you please elaborate?

Consider this: If you had invested $100 in the S&P 500 in 1993, it would be worth over $2,000 today, even accounting for things like the dot-com crash, 2008 crisis, COVID etc.

If you had bought $100 of Mattel stock in 1993, it would be worth $100 today.

While the rest of the market recovers today, including retail and manufacturing, Mattel's stock keeps sinking.

Intraday low of 14.06.

This means no bonuses for us and maybe more layoffs soon. Great. I wish they laid me off in March with everyone else.

So for all you dooms day’rs out there, the stock hit $7.70 on April, 2020…so please continue to elicit fear and worry vs any optimism that things will turn around, which they always do!

There's a guy on the other thread saying that it's all for the good of the nation and that Donny has a plan and we all just have to be patient. LOL.

If there's anyone left of the company that is.

$14.69 with more downside ahead...

Even if the market recovers some of the recent losses, Mattel's profits won't recover for the full year. Mattel will be lucky to break even in 2025.

That means no bonus and more layoffs.

Mattel has been talking about their plan to bring manufacturing back to the US for decades at this point, yet they failed to act when they could and now they’re facing down serious import tariffs.

Can't layoff anymore people. There's already no one left. We need more people who know what they're doing.

Unfortunately Mattel is sc--wed. No one in leadership has any vision or knows how to pivot the company's manufacturing stance. This is what happens when you put people in charge who are not serious nor qualified. The California "cool and hip" mentality will not save the company. We need real leadership, with serious critical thinking and analytical ability. The pomp and circumstance with clever marking will no longer work.

Bonuses definitely not going to happen now.

The only thing keeping people from jumping ship is the fear that it's worse somewhere else.

Mattel needs to lobby the government for tariff exemption on toys like their life depends on it.

Mattel executives are not capable of increasing revenue , that is the track record. Now the tariffs have sc--wed up the whole business. That is two strikes against Mattel employees. Consumers closing their wallets is strike 3.
