Thread regarding Refinitiv layoffs

Hundreds of people impacted globally

LSEG continues with layoffs and hundreds of people have been impacted. It seems the company even took down a post about it as it’s no longer there.
It feels like another move to cut costs and make the numbers look better while the stock struggles. It’s tough to watch, especially since there are so many great and knowledgeable people here. They’re really the main reason many of us stay.
But for those who remain, the workload keeps growing, and so much valuable knowledge has already walked out the door. Who knows when the next round might come. Maybe Q1? There’s always that lingering feeling that anyone could be next and that will continue forever until …

Hang in there everyone.

D&A PL GG13 and higher will be informed this week. Not sure when it will filter to the rest of the org but hold onto your butt. If you've been around through the mergers we are back to the 5 year reorg/firing cycle. good luck all

@9yh+1k8qas77x Next couple quarters there will be heavy cuts in the desktop business in product, sales, prop, eng etc as LSEG refocuses on AI and data feeds.

Any layoffs in the new year need to include the Workspace leadership and team. Terrible product, all the clients hate it. What is LSEG going to do about this?

April will bring another wave of layoffs — but will they finally be the right ones? In Italy, some managers keep fostering toxic environments while staying protected by the Refinitiv ‘crew’. How long can that last?

@zm it looks like the next one will be in the spring, so you might be right.

OMG. This seems never ending. I joined TR in 2010. Before the Refinitiv era, it was once every 12-18 months. Between 2020-2022, it was once every year. Now it's like twice or three times a year. It might become a quarterly/monthly exercise going foward.

AI strategy is pretty clear mate. Outsource the AI, analytics, insights to Microsoft, Anthropic. Partner with AWS, Databricks, Snowflake to put our data on the marketplace. We retain our “strengths as a data provider” of choice.
