Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon will maintain the 3 campus hubs, and 11 business hubs:

Y’all’s SVP didn’t give you the full list? Yes, the emails only reveal the big three “campus hubs”:

  1. Basking Ridge
  2. NYC
  3. Irving, TX

But there are also named “business hubs” chosen by business unit leaders for investment:

  1. Alpharetta
  2. Annapolis Junction
  3. Ashburn
  4. Cary
  5. Chandler
  6. Irvine
  7. Lone Tree
  8. Miami
  9. Rolling Meadows
  10. Temple Terrace
  11. Washington DC

If you work in the location other than the ones listed, you are in a non-directional location. The locations will either be maintained or will be exited in the future.

Salt Lake City must have some pull because their center is closing but they’re all going home-based. Hmm!!!

@zq who remembers the VZW innovation Store? First carrier to sell laptops with built in cellular from their own website. We were PIONEERS!

@z3
yep, Waltham, MA was the innovation center but since VZ doesn't innovate, it is no longer needed to waste valuable resources

No Boston is interesting as @ck mentioned. I seem to recall a video or something within the past year or so touting the investment to make it a an ultra modern facility designed to draw the best and brightest.

The fact it isn’t on this list is about as Verizon as it gets, and sadly not surprising.

@pm
VZW broke the lease on the small office on Southgate in Morristown - used to be pretty big and was KZ's FIEFDOM for awhile.
Town is going to knock down the building for some residential housing - I hope they like the water in the basement as it is swampy over there.

There is some concern over whether these properties are leased or owned. Here ya go:

-

Campus Hubs

  1. Basking Ridge is leased
  2. NYC is leased
  3. Irving has Verizon as a partial tenant, HCL and an LLC for some suites/floors

-

Business Hubs

  1. Alpharetta is owned
  2. Annapolis Junction is leased
  3. Ashburn is leased
  4. Cary is owned
  5. Chandler is leased
  6. Irvine is leased
  7. Lone Tree is leased
  8. Miami is leased
  9. Rolling Meadows is leased
  10. Temple Terrace is owned
  11. Washington DC is leased

A lot of existing buildings have long term leased ( like 20 years)
In order to break the lease, Verizon needs to pay a costly penalty
Verizon is wasting / spending like a drunken sailor

Again , Incorrect information
Besides the 3 campus hubs are correct

The “business hubs” are incorrect, they are not for entire company
Each BU have its own business hubs, which is different than other BU

That list is for GNT. Every SLT has a different list of buildings they will operate out of.

If the will start the hiring process as they said in that email, that would be gentrification..

Old dinosaur telco clinging to that Basking Ridge dump of yesteryear. Taking additional steps backward by opening a 2nd nearby office in long ago once popular NYC. Keep on backpeddling into the past Verlieson. Soon you will be even more irrelevant.

@cs that’s a verbatim, too. I am going to let leadership’s vagueness speak for itself.

@ca yes, that is what our SVP said. Keep coming in, even if your office isn’t on the list.

@OP lol thanks for the clarity...
"The locations will either be maintained or will be exited in the future."

So those unlisted offices will either stay open or they might close! got it

Has anyone asked these questions to Hans? Send him an email. Employees can’t operate without knowing their future.

My location isn’t one that’s listed. We were told to keep coming in until they tell us otherwise. I’m keeping my fingers crossed they move us back to home based but no one has any updates on anything.
