Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why should a company care about you?

So many people keep mentioning in their posts that Wells Fargo doesn't "care about employees." Why in the world do you think a corporation should care about you? I never understood that kind of thinking. The company pays you to do a job. You do a job for the company to get paid. That's the extent of your relationship with Wells Fargo. Expecting anything beyond that is ridiculous, mildly put.

@ajo I don't know, but most people do it for some combination of self-benefit (raises, promotions, etc.)' and because they take pride in their work. I maxed out my 401(k) to the IRS limit when I was making like $15/hr thanks to a willingness to work a ton of OT. Did it benefit the company? Sure, but the job needed to be done and come retirement time it'll benefit me a lot more. Demonstrating dedication is also one reason I got a promotion afterwards. Does it always work out like that? No, but sometimes it does and regardless of your pursuits, dedication and taking pride in your work makes you valuable. Maybe your current manager doesn't recognize it, but that doesn't mean it's–tworth doing or that the next manager won't. No one wants to work with the negative nelly, and no one wants to promote them either.

Reagan was the best thing EVER for the common worker. God could we use him now.

Why should I care about the company? Why should I put in an extra minute over 40 hours? For a raise? A promotion? A good review. Yeah, right. Why should I not post the truth as I see it all over social media (anonymously, of course)? Why should I raise my hand when I see my co- workers committing bad acts? That will just come back on me. Why should I not advise my friends and family to take their business elsewhere?

Why should I go out of my way to do more with less? It doesn’t matter what I do. In the end I’ll just get let go to pay for some multi- millionaire’s crimes anyway.

So why not look for a new position on company time? I’ll be doing them a favor. Because I care.

The company will never care about you, I agree. However, management can care. My managers care. Unfortunately, there hands are tied on a lot of things such as comp. I've never worked at a company where they cared. That only happens at very small companies of probably less than 100 people or some anomaly.

The disagreement is over what the term "cares" includes. Some people expect access to benefits and a paycheck and little else. Some people expect more.

Who wants to bet this is the OP? I’m glad you agree with yourself, OP. That makes one of you.

OP, there's a lot of people who agree with you. They just aren't complaining on this site.

What a horrible post in that it's flat wrong based on every business book I've ever read. Human Capital is key to any business no matter how big or small. What a bitter ugly heart the OP has.

I've never once worked for a company that was outright cold to employees and just the severance package alone at Wells is more generous than most.

Let me say lastly, I hate to work for around or have to eat at the breakfast table of the OP. #truth

OP would be good at managing day laborers.

Seriously, it’s not “care” like you would expect your family and friends to care. It’s “care” as in building a healthy engaged work environment where employees can grow and flourish, be productive, take good care of the company’s customers, and feel reasonably confident that excellent performance on their part will be rewarded by management. It’s a win-win for all stakeholders. Unless you’re running a cheap child-labor factory in China, of course.

You're just another low life with no real values about people, community or relationships. To the original poster. Everything is a transaction to you.

Companies used to care more about their employees, including finding them housing and reimbursement for expenses. But that went away back when Reagan and his cronies started pushing the agenda of the hell with the common worker that continues to this day. In fact, it has gotten even worse.

Companies should care about employees because the employees take care of the customers.

Of course, everyone knows that Wells Fargo doesn't care about customers, so I agree with your premise that no one should be surprised that the company (management) doesn't care about employees.

Many highly successful CEOs agree with this premise, but of course, the CEO of WF is not on that list.
