Internal Interview

I am scheduled for an internal interview but not sure I want to inform my manager though it's company policy. I am afraid of retaliation incase I am not selected for the new position.

Actually you do need to tell your manager you have an interview, its only when the manager extends an offer to you that the new manger would call your current manger and come up with an end date. When you applied you had to select a checkbox that you'd tell your manager if you were invited to interview.

Bottom line if you don’t notify your manager, as other noted you can lose the new position.

If you don't notify your manager, then they can hold it against you if you are offered the position. I agree with @yxw+1bNkDIvM. It happened to me and a few other colleagues. Unfortunately, you might have to leave the company if you are looking for career growth.

The system notifies your manager. Your manager and the hiring manager will huddle. Your manager will not let you go because they will not be allowed to replace you, thus saving your teammates from having to take on even MORE work when they are already collapsing from working 24/7.

@ehf+1bNkDIvM, your boss knew when you applied, why do you think you dont have to tell them? AI my friend AI. ( meaning they get motified)Best of luck to you. Please let us know how it goes. For me I stopped applying as for two jobs where I got interviews I got bypassed by a non American contractor converting into an employee. That my friend i cannot compete with. Regards

Trust me your manager will know. The hiring manager for the new position may email them and tell them.
