Own Goals

Some bright spark thinks it's a good idea to start seting up goals for 2024 year.

They haven't closed the appraisals from last year. Pay raises have not been announced yet and we are in the 2nd quarter..

How are they expecting this paper tickbox exercise to work when it's just one way, and no reward for achieving anything.

Someone needs to get in the real world, there's only goal, everyone work hard to fill Mike's bank.

You can fill in the useless paperwork process but one thing for sure you will not recieve anything in pay terms.

I thought the idea was to remove useless processes, wonder why they don't just remove the process as a big cost saving, the number of man/woman hours that go into the whole process you could save 100+ persons overhead costs.

People from the top to the bottom having to think of pointless goals and objectives knowing that at the end of it Mike will get the $$$$$$$$$ even if he doesn't meet any of his goals whilst the rest of you can get 0 even if you deliver.

@yqi+1nysjtGF you say "annual merit, then the bonus should be based on the appraisal."

But merit is based on appraisal and no bonus unless you exceeded all goals

Just don't bother putting in any goals.

There's only one goal which appears every year and that's everyone is a slave to Mike.

He takes people's pay and pockets it for himself whilst people and families struggle to survive, pay thier rising home loans and other costs.

These so called goals are about how he can get even more reward at the expense of hard working employees.

What a load of ball locks. Year after year they promise reward when setting goals, and when it comes to paying up when you have delivered on the goals they lie and tell you sorry no raise.

Which company has an appraisal system with no reward. Total pointless, there should be an annual merit, then the bonus should be based on the appraisal.

These people are so delusional, the HR folk that run this operation are just ticking the box, can't understand how that bald guy is so positive about all these initiatives when even all the managers know its all pointless.

The staff and managers positiveness has been lost, if you want employee engagement pay up.

Please wait for the ESG courses as well that would show up quickly on the list of things to do.

I found it ridiculous, once it became obvious that management was more concerned about the number of people who submitted their employee survey than the individual’s survey content.

Although the word reward was on a couple of the slides, and so the various presenters had to say the word, the whole topic of reward was strangely absent. Typical delusional HR, figures show that people who set goals are more motivated, yeah if those goals have $$$ tied to them. Look at our glorious CEO his goal is to boost the EPS and look at how motivated he is to do that even if it means screwing over staff and so ruining the business. A services company with pi---d off staff is doomed to fail

Apparently, the HR function needs to justify their existence. Think of how much better work life would be, if they simply eliminated so many of the nonsensical, pointless, costly HR processes that don’t make a difference and that nobody actually cares about.

Why can we not opt out of this charade?
In Germany it is your right to opt out. All that happens is you automatically get a 2. Oh, and no pay rise
Sounds like BAU to me

The paper tickbox is necessary to announce to the world that the employees are "engaged". Same as they do with those useless surveys, where they are just after ensuring 100% compliance in filling those up , again.. to show "engagement"
If half the employees do not have KRAs logged in the system when it comes to appraisal season, it won't be very good optics for "engagement".
Hence, the box ticking.
Nothing to do with mundane stuff such as raises or bonus or career movements.
Those boxes do not exist to be ticked.
