Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

So record growth again....

Funny SF is having record growth again and ahead of last years pace....that lets me know that agency is now in charge of SF. They think they are going to "grow" their way out of this enormous loss problem. U/W losses combined with net worth loss will exceed $25 billion! That is almost 20% of the company net worth in 1 year! Scam and growth was fake! The car is about to fly off the race track! Clueless id--ts. Mark this post! In another year State Farm will be laying off thousands of claims employees because they will have to put the brakes on any new growth. Our pricing models suck, agent's continue to lie and cheat to write new business, and what are writing is high risk claim filing machines! SF is basically a criminal organization with the way it does business!

Correct. SF was virtually last at the table to use what todays is every carriers version of a pricing/underwriting model. Agents sold inaccurately priced policies. Not their fault.

Big Dog wasn’t a failure of Agency. It was a failure of institutional arrogance. We were the last large insurer holding onto the old underwriting criteria and not using consumer reports. Warren Buffer said it was wrong and would badly hurt us. He turned out to be spot on.
Agents made good money that year while the company lost money. Not agents’ fault—they did EXACTLY what they were asked to do. In today’s nomenclature….they exceeded all the metrics. But ever since then, agents chase crazy targets that change in the middle of the game, trying to make a living—-while exec takes huge bonuses even during our worst years. After all, it’s stressful on them when we’re not doing well.

There was an agency promotion a number of years ago called The Big Dog, as in the Big Dog was getting off the porch and writing policies. We had record growth then, and all that cr-p we wrote generated record growth claims. What is old is new again.

Here's what IMO is the continuing problem at SF. Most presently employed at SF don't remember nor know anything about the class action Guttierrez class action lawsuit. Simply put the courts ruled in favor of the SF adjusters for working overtime in which they were not compensated for by SF. It all started in California when a "superintendent" now known as a team manager started to ride an adjuster out the door when the adjuster got an attorney. Long story short SF had to pay a lot of money to all the adjusters for time worked without pay. Of course instead of being humble and admitting error which would have made the situation better for the operations team, consultants and executives were quick to anger and start time card, micromanage, etc. The went to extreme letter of the law instead of spirit of the law. This was a fatal error on executives part since the employees saw out in the open the hypocrisy of the leadership. I strongly believe operations will never be the same until leadership recognizes the humanity in its operational workforce at which time the records will be broken at all levels.

@1pzf. Un-American is someone who does not believe in the constitution and does not believe in allowing others to have constitutional rights. What's in DC right now IMO is not American. What is in board rooms is not American. What is being taught in schools is not American. Taking away constitutional rights is not American. Let people express their opinion without labeling them is American. Burning down federal buildings is un-American. Cops ki-ling citizens is un-American. Threatening is un-American. Canceling is un-American. No the world is not all about me. Thinking only of yourself while hurting others is un-American. Let us pray to learn how to embrace and be patient on others opinions so we can learn to be a more perfect union in both business and as a country please.

Those posting on here about criminals are un American. In America you are arrested, charged with a crime and receive a verdict in a court of law before being labeled a criminal. Sounds like the insurrectionist , anti American crowd at work.

Its obvious our executives are putting policy count quantity over everything else in the company, even to the point that it hurts our ability to sever our owners (the customers they are selling policies too)

I mean they cant keep claim handlers longer than 6 month, everyone is miserable, and any customer needing to use what they paid for are often left in bad hands with a poorly trained person suffering stress trauma and unable to fully serve everyone due to metric requirements ect.

State Farm should go back to treating its hard workers making under 75K a year like humans rather than costs/problems that need to be reduced, micromanaged, and monitored. I know, i know, the executives might not get an extra million on their bonus, but sacrifices need to be made.

People posting here are just clueless. Loud….but clueless. Just to illustrate-it’s not possible that the company is run by ruthless bottom line bean counters AND run by greedy agents losing money for the company. It’s also not possible that the company was great while Boomers were its heart, and is now falling apart under Millenials and Gen Z because of the Boomers. Things are not the way they were 40 years ago. Things next year will not be the way they are today. We will ALL become outdated and weary of change at some point. But the insane, contradictory rants on sites like this one will never change any of that.

Need to outsource all jobs. Remote work has shown you can work from any location. Get rid of overpaid employees. I see a perfect company with a CEO and the VP’s. Everyone else is outsourced
