Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

People, be proactive!!!

I know complaining can be cathartic, but while you complain about the state of the company you also need to find some time to look for a new job. Or at least to prepare for the next possible (likely) layoff. Take just 15 minutes a day to work on your resume, network, look at available jobs... Your future self will thank you.

Totally agree!
I was let go in Nov layoff and had the resume ready to go.

I wss one of the senior leads on my team and was overloaded with work. Thought I was safe and valued.

While I suffered shock and depression from being let go, it wasn't as bad having a resume ready to go.

Start looking on Linked In, Indeed, and Monster. Dice.com if you are in IT. Having a resume posted on those sites (you can post anonymous they hide your name) will get your search started.

Start setting some money aside and watch your spending.

There are good jobs out there, but it can take awhile.

@xkm+19Tss1xT I’m in Missouri and I’m seeing the same thing. There is surely a thing with the young vs old. It’s crazy how this is allowed to be done.

akt+19Tss1xT what city are you searching in? I'm getting ready to start looking and this is concerning.

Prepared yourself. My position at another health plan I applied for has 169 applicants. I cannot believe it. 50% of them have more than 20 years experience which includes me.

It is bad. They are not rushing to hire. I have seen the same position posted for months. I would spend at least 1 hour each day before work looking for jobs.

Maybe once covid is behind us, there will be more jobs to spread around.

And I saw a position for Vice President of Operations (not qualified in the least) with 266 applicants. You must be kidding. Even a lower level analyst job at a small hole in the wall company has 70 applicants.

A job at my level was just posted 12 hours ago and has 121 applicants.

Its is bad. Worse if you are older. I must applied over 300 jobs. Way too many rejections. Too many applicants (young). Too many older workers laid off.

Maybe I have to do temp work with no benefits. oh well. I am not giving up.

Try to stay as long as you can. Once you are out. It is bad. Remote has made it easier to hire from other cities and other states or even other countries.

Looking to take a big pay cut but that still will not solve the problem. Young>Old
