Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

It’s ingrained

I know several hardworking colleagues who STILL put a lot of effort into their work. They take pride in it and there’s nothing wrong with that. We each have our own reasons for putting very little or an abundance of effort no matter the outcome. Allstate is damn lucky to have such people. Even though some may wonder why one is motivated to keep trying, in reality it says more about the person rather than the company that employs them. Allstate will never recognize this, but eventually another company will.

If we fall behind we get two verbal warnings then after that a write up then termination. They bully us into working long hours due to their id--tic mistake in laying off thousands of adjusters . Why do you think there aren’t adjusters in calif anymore ? Because of labor laws that protect California employees Allstate is like Amazon in how they make you work until you either quit due to the stress or keep up doing double the workload working long hours . We knew that those who survived the layoffs would be overloaded with the with of 2-3 adjusters.

You guys working 7 days are completely d-mb! Allstate does not care about you or your family’s! Why keep working when Tom & Glenn & the rest of the washed up executives bring home millions & don’t work more than 3-4 days a week!!! Let the pending claims keep building up! Not our fault Tom & Glenn laid off 1000s of employees during a pandemic!!! Keep that in mind!

I work 7 days a week keeping my claim volume under control . I’ve missed family barbecues, a trip to Vegas and quite a few of my kids’ soccer abd baseball games , but I’m
Starting to burn out. I don’t think I can do this through thanksgiving or Xmas . I sleep very little . I really want to help our customers but it’s starting to wear me out taking in more and more claims volume . Just doesn’t seem like I’m making a dent. I’ve lost 6 coworkers since March who quit . I don’t know where Allstate is going in the next couple of years but I’m convinced I won’t be here to see where transformative growth takes us.

Let me help anyone debating to unionize, or not. Unions are a scam. The top level people in unions rake in millions and live large on YOUR dues. Unions are run by the mob. Unions restrict your rights. Unions s--k. Now go get yourself a union. Laugh my bu-t off!!!

@xkk+1bEK1EQT that's the most narcissistic thing I've read in here in a long time.

And yes, if you had gone into law enforcement, your role would entail live and death situations where it is important to have strong labor unions to help ensure employee safety. LE also has no competing employment options for the skill set (which requires special certifications and schooling), so wages stagnate if they don't have a union (what the union is most useful for).

You work in a private company by your choice and can go to any other company doing the same thing for equal or better pay if you feel the labor conditions are better there. You're not dealing with arresting criminals, or being in life/death situations. And you, just like anyone else can easily be replaced. This isn't a skilled role, doesn't require special education, maybe some training, and bo-m, good to go. You hold very little leverage for a union to protect.

And some of us actually like our jobs. Not every area of Allstate is a nightmare. I know those areas and I will never work in those areas. We don't have to deal with Tom, Glenn, and the other lamebrains at the top. I am satisfied.

Good post OP. Very true. As I work for free today for Allstate to try to catch up. If I would have gone into law enforcement like my Dad, I would have a Union to support me. The way things are going, I could get fired for being so behind. Allstate is not doing the right thing with the company and the work distribution. I keep working as I take pride in myself and the work I do. Thank you. They are lucky to have me
