Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Guess We're Going Back to the Office!

The other day I received a formal notice from Allstate HR in the mail regarding a return to the local Hub/Flex Pod location within 90 days for a hybrid schedule. Few others in my unit received it as well. Letter was elaborate and covered many items (see below). Would've been nice to discuss this in an actual convo vs letter. SMH

  • Date, Time, and Location of return
  • Documentation/Materials needed when you go back
  • Expected schedule
  • Desk Booking info
  • Benefits/Support to ease the transition
  • Contact Information from HR for questions/concerns
  • Medical Leave/Absence - what to do if you're on leave when we go live with this

Does all of HR have to return also?? Everyone should ask that question. They have abused this convenience for decades.

If a company says it’s time to come back to the office, it’s their call not the employees. It’s the employee’s call whether the company is being open and honest..the we-pon term “transparent”. That’s what you control and should push on, call out and demand “genuine” transparency. Then you can make an informed decision whether a material impact to you. Convenience has a price and the price isn’t always mutual beneficial nor static. We’re replaceable and few of us have super powers granting us exceptions. Gotta get over it and be that open to change, flexible person that company says we attract.

You head back into the office skippy and plant your lips on your leader's behind like you did before 2020. I'll just stay here and be more productive from home without all the drama and bullsh-t of the office.

Catch up people, the Covid is over, why are we all still sitting at home ? Time to get back in and back to normal.

We are your fellow team members. Please don't RTO. We don't want you even more than you don't want us.

I have no desire or need to "connect" with my team members. I can't stand most of them and my manager is shitbag vile waste of a human being. Being forced out of the office probably saved me my job as I could barely contain myself to tell off one of these stupid a--holes on a daily basis and I was literally days away from telling that disgusting bi--h of a manager what I thought of her lack of leadership and lack of intelligence. After 5 years of not needing a filter that is pretty much gone and I wouldn't last 2-3 hours in an office with all those d-mbfu-ks.

ANI HR email today. Directors/Principals must come in at least 12 days per quarter. All other employees are encouraged too as well but currently not mandatory. Badge scans will be logged, so this is the thin end of the wedge.

I look forward to wasting my time in the gridlock of Belfast traffic to return to the open plan noisy nightmare that is Mays Meadow just to dial into a call with my globally distributed team at 2pm. Sure I'll feel connected to all the people around me as we share our resentment with our incompetent leadership.

As mentioned by others, this is likely an attempt to get people out the door without having to pay them off. Especially considering ANI's days are numbered under the current supplicant and sycophantic ChatGPT leadership

Voluntary for now. But I expect RTO to be mandatory within 1-2 years.

Also a good way to force voluntary resignations without severance pay.

@k9+1jqrx2x8a, you are right. TW said it like, it’s not mandatory and we are much more caring than other companies. While, I do not know who that was, but a guy with balding hairline, was a bit aggressive in: they expect some attendance when “connecting” with other employees is required. Just too much tip toeing around without coming out and say “they don’t know why they are doing, what they are doing. They’re just following other companies or Board’s direction.”

What happens with the people that can't go into hubs? They've been hiring remote workers since Covid. Move package, severance?

Somewhat of a relief but sounds like they were implying that the option for full RTO may be an option in the coming years. However not mandatory for now....

@gf+1jqrx2x8a, wow, you called it. They all stated like everyone was dying to come back to work. I mean 80%-90% of our team is in India, how are we supposed connect in person? Why not just come out and be honest about what they want instead of having shills parroting their agenda. Eyeroll!

Sounds like option will be there to RTO but not at all mandatory aside from a few specific areas and they have already been notified.

Not happening for most areas. Already had that verified. Impacted by RTO is very small.

Tomorrow Tommy will couch it as “hey you said you would like to be more connected to your peers, we heard you” the gaslighting will be fun to watch. Running people out the door via RTO will be cheaper than paying severance.

Don’t we have our AllConnect meeting tomorrow.. if real we should get hints tomorrow. TW would never announce it himself in that setting.

Go out to your Allconnect page, Get Connected, Global Pod page to see all of the locations.

Um we DO have real estate in Charlotte, Chicago, Irving and Arizona that are hubs. THEN there are 25 “flex pod” locations around the country. Control is the name of the game and Allsnake will spend the money to support RTO.

Nothing motivates me like sitting in traffic for 2 hours, talking about sports ball or reality TV around a crusty coffee maker and hovering micromanagers. Throw in the unspoken hostile demeanor of the average Allstate office and we’ve got a recipe for success!

Great to hear. Lot of slacking at home has occurred. Leaving tons of efficiency in each employee residence. Easily 25% improvements can occur.
