Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Let me do my job

My manager has started nitpicking every single thing on our schedules, down to when we take breaks. It's downright bullying, not leadership, and it’s ki-ling everyone’s motivation. If they think this is going to make us work harder, they’re out of their damn minds.

@2aj Spot on exactly what happened to me less than 2 months ago. Except they're driving towards PIPs and firing, not layoffs and severence.

@OP Agree with those who have mentioned this is part of their strategy.

Your manager was instructed to do this. The next thing that will happen will be an intentional increased workload on those they believe should be laid off. They will continually call out and berate those who aren't keeping up and will continue to pile work on them to artificially inflate their backlog so it looks good on the release paperwork. I've seen this done more than once to good employees in the last 2 years.

@x0 Eliminating the Cheif Ethics Officer's role made that loud and clear.

F.I.R.E, F.I.R.E, F.I.R.E is probably the Only Solution! Save as much as you can until you are F.I.R.E.

@y2 huh. I learned something new and will have to do some research on unemployment laws. I just know that anyone who has been fired has been denied unemployment as far as I'm aware. So, I never have much hope of that if I ever get let go outside of a layoff.

@xd some states like MN employer must only show malicious misconduct. Stealing, purposeful damage. Cool thing is that each time an employee gets unemployment, employer experience rating goes up. This means higher UI insurance costs for bank!!!!

@x0 they document so well that it's really hard to get unemployment. They will fight it, unfortunately

Never never never report to HR or Ethics. It will backfire and you will be a target. I have direct knowledge of this.

Just accept you are being managed out. Do not quit. If fired for incompetence, you will get unemployment. Do not take it personal, likely there are more.

Life is not fair. Cut costs. Save money.

The downhill slide started with Andy. He could never fill Richard’s shoes no matter how hard he tried.

The only requirement to be a manager at the bank is the ability to push your fat head up the azzz of your manager. Bonus points if you can climb inside.

Many improperly promoted "leaders" are ill suited to that role, the are best at managing, but can't keep their own ego and all about me attitude out of the way. Leadership is not control, however, in these desperate times, will leadership not qualified for those roles, we get this toxic work environment, drama and focus of silly things that do not generate revenue or value for the shareholders.

This is straight outta the toxic leadership handbook. They're trying to get people to quit so they don't have to pay severance. The biggest cuts of the year come in Sept and Oct. If they can bully you out before then, even better for their ledgers.

Document. Document. Document. That's the only advice I've got for you.
