Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Diversity - simple virtue signaling

It may seem that this is unrelated to layoffs, but Is this diversity angle the company is pushing beyond limits actually beneficial to the company? It seems like it simple takes away from resources and efforts to truly steer the company towards profitability and growth. I’m completely against discrimination in any form, and welcome diverse people and opinions and ideas. However, this type of initiative seems to take it too far. It seems to be a distraction from the main goal the company should have. To be a strong company where everyone can succeed. Catch phrase is strength in diversity, but it seems to focus on groups and culture rather than individual diversity among all cultures. Interested to know thoughts. I believe the company would do better to focus hard the more challenging prospect of staying competitive and with the times.

Ironic timing of many of those in that area were also canned this month. Check on LinkedIn if you want proof. Posts are public.

It becomes a problem when the ONLY qualification is your physical appearance. And trust me. It's apparent.

DEI needs to go. Waste of money ad resources. People are going to be trashy racists and bigots no matter what kind of effort is made to push this along. Just handle thoe who behave and act in a racist and bigot way on a case by case HR perspective and fire those sc-mbags from the company. No need to put all of this money and effort into a losing cause when the company is going down the drain financially. Are we in the business of social science or selling and maintaining insurance?

The entire DEI department needs to be let go. All they have managed to do is ruin a good company with their woke ideology.

White men complaining about DEI?
Maybe complaining about promotions and hiring based on things that have zero bearing on their skill and filling out positions to meet target checkmarks that collectively add up to large scale underperformance.

There should be no argument that corporations hire and promote people who possess certain hot button identifiers but few of these same people who will ever admit that they one of the beneficiaries of it.

To the 60 year woman comment, what are your qualifications? You just describe being a woman, complaining white men and a good fit for a minimum wage job.

In the Inclusive Diversity video on this site: https://www.allstate.jobs/diversity/, curious to know how many of the speakers are no longer with Allstate. I've been told that the first one has gone to the dogs.

I am a 60 year old white woman, who was hired into Allstate at age 55. Diversity helped me. Otherwise I’d probably be making min wage somewhere. White men are the biggest complainers about inclusiveness because it evens our chances.

This is what I have read, not sure if it's accurate.

Companies like Blackrock can control the funds available to a company and will do so based on that company's ESG score. More 'diversity' means a higher ESG score.

Some people have been at Allstate quite awhile and have observed that it has long had many people from many cultures represented at all levels of the company. It has not been a homogeneous all white male employee force- general or even at all levels.

@wws+1phT3d75 - It's not white employees who are feeling discriminated against... it's white MEN! Diversity includes equality of women and a culture of diverse ethnicities. Long gone are the days of walking into a company and the majority of the employees/leaders are all white men.

"But how does this help us sell more insurance?"

"...Insurance?"

Agreed. I am all for equality and fair and even opportunity for all. But the company seems to be going way too far with this when there are other much more pressing matters at hand. Like saving this company from collapse. Also the aggressiveness of the Inclusive Diversity model is very excessive and to the point where white employees are starting to be discriminated against for hiring and positional opportunities.
