You can't just ask us to trust you, Cynthia. This meeting is going great so far.

@apple
MetLife and Apple have similar reasons for forcing RTO. Apple spent $5B on a new office building not too long before the pandemic, and MetLife owns a ton of office space. They want to get use out of their investments, sc--w the human factors, none of us are worth that kind of money to them.
@apple this sounds familiar
"But just two weeks later, company executives sent out a video announcing it wasn’t changing its original position, with Apple VP Deirdre O’Brien saying “we believe that in-person collaboration is essential to our culture and our future.”"
@apple because they miss playing ping pong instead of doing their jobs. Weren't you listening at the last meeting?
I wonder if Apple EG did the same "research" as MetLife EG. My friends at Nike say the same battle is happening there. It really makes you wonder why these overpaid execs are pushing so hard for RTO.

…I don’t trust the government, I don’t trust no cops…
I get by…got it good
@smallpox it wasn’t a mRNA vaccine nor was it EUA.
All vaccinated employees should not believe they are protected from the variants - so wear a mask.
Yes, it is theoretically possible that there could be a bad long term side effect.
But right now, it looks more probably that 1) the shot will generally protect you and 2) the risk of adverse effect (very sick with big hospital bills or dying) far outweighs the risk of a short term side effect (and I don't deny that there could be some, but they are relatively rare).
If you didn't get the vacc, plan on getting the Delta variant. Please get the shots.
For those anti-vacc'ers, just curious, were you against the small-pox vaccine? Would you really want to live in an alternate reality where small-pox still existed?
Trust? I don’t trust the CDC or the US Government.
Here’s my long view take. All the employees who disclosed they have been vaccinated. All well and good. Company has this information.
In 3, 5 or more years it is discovered that the vaccination (because was not fully studied) causes, let’s say for example, cancer.
You are still an employee of Metlife, they still have record of your vaccination status. They can take this information and use it to readjust or deny, etc., coverage based on assumptions about the vaccinated group.
On the self-identification of whether or not you got the vaccine -- true, you could lie. But, they might be able to check whether you applied for the $100 reimbursement for getting the full course. If you say you got the vaccine, but didn't apply for the $100, that would raise flags.
Also, when you do get the vaccine, they collect quite a bit of information about you including your insurance information. If you get the vaccine, under normal circumstances the insurance provider and your doctor is going to know this. MetLife is SELF-INSURED. Aetna and United Health merely administer the plan for them.
This means that MetLife as a self-insured entity, probably knows if you got the vaccine. Whether they can USE that information is an interesting question. I suspect it must be at least a gray area since they have asked us whether we have been vaccinated. They should also know from the $100 vaccine payout as I'd guess most people that were vaccinated took the free cash.
You can lie, but you might get caught. Be sure your sins will find you out.
@Doing mah research -- Any backpedaling is covered by the "Forward Looking Statements" that Jen shows every time better than Vanna turns letters. LOL.
@anti-vaxxer - I have no problem with people studying the available data and forming an opinion on any matter... I have a huge problem with people who froth at the mouth with misinformation.
Just curious, did YOU answer the survey truthfully? Are you going to wear your mask amd social distance every day while your at the office as directed? Is saying you're vaxxed when your not just some 'innocent white lie' that you rationalize away comparing it to some sort of scarlet letter? Even if YOU answer truthfully and comply with the direction, what are the odds that EVERYONE answers truthfully?
@Exacly so, you also feel that it's wrong for people to believe anything but what you think is true. And FYI, no vaccine for Covid is FDA approved so if someone "claims" it's not like you said some would, they would be 100% correct, and the fact that you take issue with someone doing their own research, wow...... smdh
"Someone can report they got it, then come into the office with no mask because no proof is required?"
Exacly. People are going to lie and say they got vaccinated when they have not. Same as we're seeing everywhere else. Then they'll pitch a fit and claim that the company isn't practicing inclusivity. Then they'll claim some line about it not being FDA approved. Then they'll claim that "their research shows..."
Precisely why this whole thing is a sh-t show.
@Doin mah..... so there is something wrong with people who want to do their own research and think independently? You say you have 2 employees, so you obviously admit right there that you are in some sort of management capacity, so let me say, SHAME ON YOU! The company is pushing inclusivity and diversity, but you clearly want to ostracize and discount employees who choose to think for themselves and manage their own health matters. Hey, any SLT on here, you might want to rethink who is promoted as there may be more like this one who does not subscribe to inclusivity!
I missed the call, out on PTO. A co-worker is telling me the following, is it true?
You have to report if you got the vaccine or not. If you don't report, it is assumed you don't have it. If you do report, there is no requirement to do so.
Someone can report they got it, then come into the office with no mask because no proof is required?
The other part here is trusting coworkers, which I don't. I have two employees who have told me they have no plans to get vaccinated. But they are gonna "keep doing their research" and "thinking independently". 🙄🤣😅
Today they back peddled a comment that Susan made on one of the previous meetings that vaccination proof is required. I guess it was a legal / compliance issue. How many people wearing masks do you see at the grocery store? Now compare that to your states vaccination metrics.
They are so hard up to reference the CDC every chance they get. Same CDC that couldn't make up its mind on masks, hand washing, social distancing requirements, ventilation standards, treatment methods? That the same CDC we are talking about?
@wed+1bU6ojEo that's a standard CYA liability statement. My last company did the same thing at their all-hands meetings. Basically "don't come back later with a lawyer complaining something didn't happen because we mentioned it in Q1 and then changed our minds"
I think it must be some sort of power trip to solicit questions and then not answer them.
Getting tired of that game.
And, what's with the accounting Forward Looking Statements before each meeting? It's not like this has anything to do with the public, or earnings or anything. I don't think they even think about what they are doing, just mechanical.
I submitted at least 4 different questions. 0 were answered. Time to look for a new job.
"Dr." Tom Ferraro - Saying vaccine lasts a long time. Meanwhile there are already conversations in the real world about those who got the vaccine early on in Dec (elderly and health care workers) needing a 3rd booster soon because it may be wearing off.
Sorry folks but we're running out of time.
Any restrictions on elevator use? Sorry, out of time.
Do I have to follow arrows? Can't hear you.
These guys are #$% artists.
Their answer to "I'm worried about my children" is "suck it up"?! WTF
The gaslighting continues. Now they are backpedaling on what they said about everyone being in office on the same schedule and saying they never said it would change pre-pandemic hybrid schedules. 1000's supposedly in a RTO focus group, yet no one seems to know any front line staff who were included.
"If there's something we haven't covered..."
I don't know. Doesn't seem like you answered the 800 questions you got already.
Blah, blah, blah, blah. Honestly they should leave everything as is for a bit. Ha, over 800 questions and they don't have any real answers.
Another fine NOTHING BURGER edition from this place. Anyone truly surprised here?
The are vamping to avoid the hard questions.
Tell me when they tell us something new.
Same old same old so far.
Again, another commercial lauding the caring qualities of the SLT? Did she just say intentionable? What the heck?
I can't believe they are equating flex WFH days to PTO. Working from home isn't a vacation.
“Full stop”
🙄
Wait-they are still working on the plan? What is this meeting about then-if not tell us the actual plan.
Loved Brendan Ly--h literally reading off his screen to tell us his heartfelt thoughts about how "thoughtful and caring" how great people are who are working on this plan.
SO great that he had to read about it word for word. Very genuine.
