Thread regarding Pratt and Whitney layoffs

Sound Off for Your Fellow Workers

For those who have gotten a call (or know somebody who has), can you sound off with some information?

  • How did it happen? Were there any warning signs?
  • What is your position? What was your salary? Your age?
  • What location? How long have you been there?
  • What sort of severance or other help were you offered?

Everything is happening silently, and it gives us massive anxiety. Having some info about what's happening in the shadows would go a long way. Let's not turn this into a young vs old or whatever thing. Let's look out for each other.

I realize it sounds like a lot of info. Nobody has to share all of that at once. I think there are ways to obscure your information, you don't have to be exact.

No, I'm not a lawyer. I'm just trying to get a feel for who's at risk, because they're not telling us sh–.

It is unbelievable that there has been little to none communication on layoffs. Employees are left in the dark to guess or assume they are safe. Turning to an anonymous website in hopes they will get answers. Is the 15th the end of layoffs? If the 15th comes and goes do we assume we are “safe”? Will we be notified layoffs are completed? So many unanswered questions.

Doubtful that anyone who's already been let go will be reading this threads any more... Either way, keep hearing 10/15 is the day. So only 8 days to go before the bulk knows... Take a deep breath and que sera sera...
