All he was saying was that older employees, who happen to have many years of knowledge and expertise, are retiring and it's sad to see them go.
You people just like to invent controversy.

He could do things to try and retain older employees if he does not really want them to go, but he doesn't! Actions speaks louder than words.
I cant believe a CEO cannot even properly phrase a sentence. He could have just said AT&T would like to attract younger talents and here is what we are doing to do then give references, studies or survey on what trends younger talents aim for eg. remote work, flexibility, gym, daycare etc. But he was just a rude, tactless, as...s.hole who doesn't care about anyone but himself. Our senior folks could be very effective on doing a warm hand off to younger talents and retire with dignity. I am sure lots of them would want to do so. There is no need to blatantly disrespect them.
The OP is a moderator on this site, in case anyone was wondering.
All he was say——-ing, was get out your too old
In order to ensure the longevity and continuity of the company, at some point, there does need to be some young hires. Down the road, they become the older, experienced employees. Believe it or not, older employees will some day either retire or die. There needs to be a new generation prepared to fill in.
Nice try Stanky. You said what you said. You are trying to rewrite history because legal told you how bad you f’d up. You have been targeting older employees for years. Now there is proof.
He is an id--t.
AT&T is firing older employees and replacing them with younger ones. It’s not voluntary.

The webcast video will subpoenaed. There will be discovery.
The webcast is 2nd quarter earnings report for those that are confused.
There I helped you out.
Two guys were 'surplussed' from our group that has minorities as our manager and District level. Both were white males with over 35 years of service
WINNER of the most ignorant comment of the summer for this entire board. Congrats, come on up and get your RTO letter.
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 ....,.!!!!
AT&T is doing the same with race. Workforce has to be like the country demographics. “We have to do better” is all they said. Then I had to sit in meetings with people telling me I was entitled and as an older white male, I was a dying breed. Oh well..
“ That is not at all what he said. He said that the workforce has to mimic the demographic. That means getting rid of older employees.”
This is a paid advertisement for the c suite
If there is one thing I have learned in the last few years is that you can't tell someone what they really heard or how they should feel about it. What you are engaging in is called 'gaslighting,' and until there is a record of what he actually said, verbatim, discounting what apparently a lot of people understood him to say is reductive and dismissive.
*All he was saying was that older employees, who happen to have many years of knowledge and expertise, are retiring and it's sad to see them go."
I'd like to see the transcript, please.
Old workers can't figure out how to plug in the internet.
Nah, you are a tw-t and they want to get rid of older workers. Automate as much as they can and get sweat shop labor basically. You people are naive.
Older employee base does not align with our targeted younger demographic
I heard him say fire older workers because younger workers make less money.
Is ATT doing RTO as a way to skirt the WARN act requirements?
If it was “all he was saying”
why ain’t they givin’ it up man? If nothing to hide post it fo sho dogg
He would like for the older folks to leave voluntarily so they don’t have to pay severance. Even if your the same age as Stankey and can’t afford to leave your too old.
#This is what I heard also
Time for a twitter compaign
"Don't believe you're lyin' ears! He's just sad."
No, he said what we heard him say. Otherwise, why is the recording not available? All that matters is whether a jury will believe the trolls. Probably not.
There was probably somebody from legal doing hand signals prompting JS to walk it back a little, but the meaning was clear.
I guess the Hollywood fantasy is over. They don't want to be movie producers anymore since it worked out so well. JS wants AT&T to be like a Silicon Valley dynamo, full of young, nubile, gender-vague workaholics.
Sure would love to hear it for myself, but so far we can't see for ourselves. Those of us who had conflicts (you know, the jobs we work either from home or the office) who missed it may never see it.
If that's "all he was saying," then why not give us a chance? To see for ourselves, those of us who had conflicts at the time of the live broadcast.
Also, I suspect OP is laying on some sarcasm. We can be pretty sure that's not all he was saying. This is a combination real-estate recovery plan, aging CEO ego booster, and most importantly a veiled surplus that won't trigger EEO.
