This sounds like something you would hear a Communist leader say.

You will live, eat, and breath everything for the cul... er company of AT&T, or you will be a surplus item not worthy of salvation. All praise The Stank, for he is the unmaker of our 401k and pension.

I’m living my designation this morning. Is my boss here? No. Is my coworker here? No. Is there any reason to be here outside of some micromanaging on the part of Stinky? Nope. Have a great AT&T day yall.

can't make this up...."Live your designation"...as others have mentioned this is just plain stupid. On the other hand, imagine the laughs this would get in an episode of The Office or Seinfeld. It would be pure gold, the writer would surely get nominated for an award for top comedic content. We could have George Costanza telling Jerry and others that he was told to "live his designation"....it would be hilarious....
Sadly some of the VPs, SVPs and other leaders in Dallas thought this would be motivating to employees....but we see it for what it is...a tone-deaf, insulting attempt to get employees excited about RTO.

It’s the slogan that T paid an outside organization millions to encourage you to get your self back in the office

"It's a clumbsy attempt for uncaring sociopaths to assign a veneer of meaning and purpose to an arbitrary and harmful company policy"

Man, spot on...this is the best explanation I've seen thus far.

You guys need a union. I know that they’re coming for us next but at least they can’t make up the rules as they go.

Means get your rear to an office, sit elbow to elbow with another employee “drop in”, best of luck finding “pay for” parking, try your hand at the reservation seating website, don’t forget to check in or you will lose that reserved seat. Move across country if you want to keep your job, to survive this current round and NO guarantee that move will save your job in the future.

Buckle up buttercup, hold on tight and hope you make it through the continuous rounds of never ending layoffs and moving people all around the country due to BAD leadership and BAD leadership decisions.

That’s what it means.

George Orwell predicted this kind of language. Seeing his prediction come true should make us pause and remind ourselves what ELSE he predicted.

We're letting this cr-p happen. We VOTE for it. A lot of people vote with their feelings and leave their brains at home. We are paying the price. The poison has spread out of government into corporate boardrooms. Who thought it wouldn't?

The country's going to he-l, and roughly half the population seems more than ready to send us there, but they're too blinded by their own arrogance to see it, much less admit it.

This company has totally lost its Moral Compass! Pretty sad to watch.

It means you will live where and how AT&T so-called leadership tells you to. These narcissistic psychopaths believe they can treat you like slaves, and the sad part is, so many of you let them. Asking people to go to an office is perfectly reasonable, but demanding people move for them is plain insane, and even if you're spared this time around, you'd be insane to count on this company for the long run. Leave, while you still have value out there.

I’ll use it in a sentence.

Sorry mom and dad I know I promised to check in on you since your 80 but I have to “live my designation” even though I’ve only lived here my whole career and it worked fine till know it suddenly doesn’t. Also to my children. I’m sorry I won’t be seeing much of you guys anymore.

"It is called doing your job! ”

But we already are, and better than we would in an office.

So, no.

As others have stated, "live your designation" is an insulting, uninspiring and just plain stupid phrase....Imagine talking to your children, friends etc and using that phrase...they would look at you like you were nuts...there is zero chance they would understand you...

Stankey and other leadership have failed this company, they don't know how to compete and grow revenues so they resort to cost cutting and silly phrases like the above...

This company doesn't need stupid phrases or distractions,,,,i.e., watch John and others eat hot wings and get a haircut....we need leaders who can run a business...

I wonder when "leadership" will live their fiscal and fiduciary designation?

Nothing says Leadership @ T like "We're #3! We're#3! We're#3!"

Just another slogan tossed out.

What they feel is a catchy/cute way of saying…

Get your bu** to the office we tell you to go to!

It means that many need to be receptive to changing their work style. No more working in silos or hiding in the shadows or corners with accountability. Working together becomes key to increase productivity.
