Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

HR Townhall

“We know we’re cutting 30-40%, but we also have no clue what roles will exist so can’t share org charts until the moment before you post…” huh?

“Also, the business is investing multiple millions in technology to power the new hr org….. but ignore the fact that we will save ten times that in reduced salary cost.”

I think we call that doublespeak..

Bunch of robots saying nothing helpful. Beep boop.

@vh have you ever used them? Being a Chevron employee for 30 years I’ve had the benefit and used it multiple times for a various different reasons. Well, you may think outsourcing means nothing, I see it as a pivot from the care and concern of the old Chevron.

@r7 EAP is a colossal waste of money. CVX should outsource that function as well! Highly paid individuals, most of whom work harder at not working than actually doing any work.
Their heyday is over.

@pr They do more than help people find mental health providers. I heard Random dr-g test positives will be terminated now, no chance to work with EAP to keep your job.

I am committed to change for the benefit of the ELT. I wouldn’t want them to lose their jobs, so I am going to document everything I can before they move my job to a lower cost geography.

I don’t understand why people use EAP anyway. Go right to an outside mental health provider with insurance. I see absolutely no reason why involving the company in your problems would be a good thing (unless you’re working an angle, then more power to you).

That being said mental health is incredibly important. Talking to a therapist can really help with a lot. A lot of my issues stem from the company though lol.

Guys, don’t be too hard on MG, her LT, and LP team. Give them credit, they tried their very best to read the script. They came across so natural, authentic, and eloquent. Love it, they will give Chat GPT and CoPilot a run for their money. Way to go, HR!

@OP Yes, see the post about wave 1. They gave us the same speech but instead it was lower cost geographies instead of tech. It’s more about cost than tech. They’re just spinning it differently. Good luck. You are in for months of gaslighting.

@ae, right? I about lost my sh-t when I heard that. Telling us you care about all of us, in the same breath that you're gutting the workforce, so we can "win" in any environment. You don't care, at least about your employees. Bottom line means everything.

It’s especially annoying when they say they need us all to commit to the change and it’s going to take us all… blah blah..

Apparently not if you can stand to fire almost half of us…

You could only catch 50% of everything that was being said due to the technology glitches. It was so frustrating that all of the outsourced IT couldn’t provide an acceptable platform to deliver such important news. And this is exactly what’s going to happen with all the other outsourcing. Substandard service.
